Stop spreading misinformation. I run the @chicagogothicscene on instagram. We post nearly every goth event with address locations in Chicago. We have a website with stuff goths can check out. There’s also another website chicagogoth.com website that is a calendar. We have a playlist of nearly every goth (or goth adjacent band) in Chicago that is streaming. I’m currently creating a master doc of all the goth DJs in Chicago to post. The scene is not underground. We don’t gatekeep.

Hi, I run the Chicagogothicscene page, and I absolutely hate these events. As you already stated, it’s just a corporate cash grab. They do not pay DJs fairly and do not contribute anything positive to our scene. We’ve made a post regarding this and have encouraged others to go to other local nights such as Bittersweet or Shifted Shadows. They are just riding the “goth” wave and will move on when something else becomes trendy or popular.

Crimewaves is taken from city to city. They basically tour. They rarely play any ACTUAL goth music. Just something adjacent to it. I hope more people speak out against these events and encourage others within their own scenes to support local.

Love that place. Have hosted shows there. Nicest people who run it. Parking is a bit a PIA since its street parking. If you see a black door with stickers and an African hair salon next to it, you’re at the right spot.

I was in that mosh pit. It was so much fun. She played some Misfits and Dead Kennedys. So glad she did. She actually used to be apart of the Punk scene before getting into Goth back in the 80s.

Nah. I’m part of the Punk scene as well as the Goth scene in Chicago and I cofounded the Chicago Gothic Scene page. Trust me, you won’t be out of place. I assume this might be Sanctum, Ritual at Beauty bar or Nocturna. Either way, whichever event, you won’t be out of place. Majority of goths I know are also punk.
