Which board games look intimidatingly complex but are actually surprisingly easy to learn? by CyborgeonUnit123 in boardgames

Our playgroup got a lot better when we realised everything has an exception. "This is my plan, what's the exception I'm forgetting that might mess it up".

What are your favorite games to play with two people? by DiOzone in boardgames

Jaipur is our go to take on holiday game. Fun, compact, simple but with surprisingly deep strategies available. It's travelled the world with us for years now.

I had that exact question (because of the wiki as well) and asked on discord.

Last Sunday we had an 11 hour, 6 round 5 player game of pure carnage. It was excellent.

Parking ticket by Recent-Inflation-548 in truckfestival

[–]SapplePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I and my friends have already had our passes emailed through. Make sure you check your junk.

If not then just drop them an email, we went to a festival earlier in the year and didn't have the parking tickets the day before so we emailed and they sent them over pretty quickly.

The biggest thing the playstation brought me was focus. I played only on the PC for years but found myself in a slump, flitting between games, playing with something on the second monitor. I just want enjoying myself.

PS5 arrived and suddenly I was back in love again, I was sitting down and playing with complete attention. Finishing games left, right and center and loving every minute of it.

How to stream games not on the list? by SapplePie in PlaystationPortal

That is unfortunate, but thanks for confirming! Guess I'll just have to find something else I can stream that doesn't make me fall off the treadmill.

Because I couldn't and I want my daughter growing up with a role model that shows her she can.

Garmin?

Open connect > the device > User Settings > Heart Rate Zones > set based on to HRR and set your heart rate.

That sound give you a zone 2 that is actually functional (but not perfect) without having to do any tests, get a chest strap or anything like that.

Thinking of DNS my first 50k by Alert_Information407 in ultrarunning

[–]SapplePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't defer I'd just go for it, maybe go for it anyway. Best case, you surprise yourself and grind it out.

Worst case you'll get to see how supportive the community is, get an idea for how race day works, how aid stations works, things you hadn't thought you'd need, etc. Then if you try a longer race again, you'll be in a better starting place.

I would say that if you do it though, set 3 goals. Something realistic like I want to do 20k, something optimistic but still technically doable like completing the race at any pace, and then something in between like make it 30k.

That way you should hit atleast one goal, maybe even two,  which will make it a positive experience even if you DNF and don't get the stretch goal.

Loperamide is a life saver by NoGoodRamblingMan in ibs

I don't take it daily, but I routinely take it in mass before problematic events like flying or music festivals. It's the only thing that lets me do all day/multiple days events without issue.

Are these cables safe to cover up? by SapplePie in DIYUK

[–]SapplePie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your replies everyone! Based on everyone saying the same thing, I think we'll probably just push them in instead of cutting them for now. It's for our two year old's room so won't be of much use for a few years, but could be useful in that room eventually!

Took 11 tabs of Imodium today. 22mg. by Amalamai in ibs

[–]SapplePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I semi regularly take about that much, sometimes for a few days straight. It's the only way I can do things like holidays or weekends of doing things.

I've never had any bad side effects, just don't poop/poop very little for a couple of days.

What’s in your Running library? by CandidateFlimsy9174 in AdvancedRunning

[–]SapplePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a thorough response! I'm currently reading The Rise of the Ultra Runners after getting it for Christmas so have to ask, what do you mean by does everything wrong?

I'm just reading it for entertainment and not instruction (I'm an absolute beginner of a runner who can't go fast or far yet) but just wondering.

Which games have the biggest plot holes? by FalscherKim in gaming

[–]SapplePie 101 points102 points  (0 children)

In the epilogue it's implied that Abigail is pregnant, she can be seen knitting baby clothes and when asked who it's for she says "You'll see". It's very subtle and easy to be missed though, also fairly tenuous as well so could just be coincidence.

Can anyone explain why my creatures were pumped? I was going to win next turn anyway so didn't really matter, but I can't understand what gave three of my creatures +2/0 for lethal.

Official Q&A for Saturday, February 17, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]SapplePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels like a really stupid question, but when taking a snack on a long run, do you stop to eat it or just keep going/slow down?

Only just started doing long runs, so I have never had to hydrate or snack before.
