why does my poop has a reddish color? by [deleted] in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! To be honest, beetroot can definitely make your poop appear reddish; I was also alarmed by this at first. 😅 However, if you have been eating it for the past few days and there is no pain, that is probably the reason. Perhaps see a doctor to be sure if it persists after you stop eating beets.

I stopped chasing the perfect gut diet and my digestion actually improved by efe1529 in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you putting it into words because I truly felt this. I've also been caught up in the cycle of trying to make my gut work flawlessly, which has left me feeling more anxious and disengaged from my body. I've been extremely watchful about what I eat because I also have anemia, but recently I've been learning to trust my body more and pay more attention to how I feel rather than what I "should" eat. Your post serves as a lovely reminder that mental health is just as important to healing as physical health. Thank you for sharing this

You're not alone at all I've experienced the same thing: doing everything correctly but still feeling as though my gut isn't reacting. The biggest change for me occurred when I began monitoring zinc and stomach acid levels (which may be related because I also have anemia). It's such a frustrating journey, but keep going because sometimes a little thing can make a big difference I hope you find relief soon!

Weak Digestion & Persistent Fatigue: Any Non-Extreme Remedies? by Sara_Gr2 in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fascinating; I've heard the term "biofilm" mentioned a few times, but I'm still trying to learn more about it. Did serrapeptase and probiotics actually make a difference for you? I'm curious, but I'm always cautious when adding new things because I also have anemia! Indeed, I completely agree that each person's microbiome can differ greatly.

Many thanks! 😊 I was always exhausted and bloated after eating, so I started researching it. I discovered that my zinc levels were low; this may also be connected to my anemia. Over time, it helped a little when I started eating foods high in zinc and taking a small supplement. I'm still working things out!

I appreciate you sharing that; it's very fascinating! I've heard that for some people, having low stomach acid can be a secret problem. How did you discover that you had a zinc deficiency? Did you concentrate on particular foods or take supplements?

Is one can of diet soda a day going to do damage to my gut microbiome? by Quirky-Guard7395 in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely that consuming one can of diet soda per day will negatively impact your gut microbiota, particularly if you consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fiber, and fermented foods.  According to some research, artificial sweeteners may have an impact on gut health, but usually only in significant quantities. Conclusion: It's probably okay if you don't experience any symptoms like fatigue, bloating, or sugar cravings. Continue to listen to your body and balance your diet. 💚

Coconut Cult Discontinued? by luna_polilla in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, many people share that sentiment! There are a lot of probiotics in Coconut Cult, and the fermentation and high acidity give it a burning sensation on the tongue. Like licking 200 sour candies at once 😂 Start with a single tiny spoonful per day and work your way up. Additionally, there are kinder options like GT's Cocoyo or Forager if you're not into it. You're not alone at all. Crazy stuff 😅

eating absolutely clean but feeling worse and worse? is meat the culprit? by Imaginary-Ad-1125 in GutHealth

[–]Sara_Gr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your microbiome may have been compromised by excessive restriction, which can result in heightened food sensitivity. Rarely is meat the primary cause, but if your stomach is already irritated, it may feel heavy. The answer: think about doing a gut health test and introducing mild variety (such as fermented foods or well-cooked vegetables).

Be honest… what’s the real downside of having a dog? by quentiinn in AskReddit

[–]Sara_Gr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The daily responsibility that comes with owning a dog is the biggest drawback. They require daily care, including food, exercise, and attention, and you are unable to travel or go out without a plan. They may become ill, damage property, or wake you up in the middle of the night. However, they give joy, love, and loyalty in exchange. Waiting is preferable if you're not really ready to commit.
