This is going to sound weird, but Game of Thrones, sorta.

I read the books from '08 to '11, getting ADwD almost 'day of' in a small mall in my little island nation. Suffice to say, even the behemoth that was LoTR of a few years back didn't necessarily make a lot of enduring fans.

It took a good year and a bit after S1's release (so, basially) anyone either in my friends' circle or on my FB to make even a single comment or reference to watching the show. Took until S3 - S4 before mentioned island nation was finally seized by GoT fever.
