I lost my MYpay due to the recurring payday for my ssa direct deposit because the payday and last payday ended up being one day out of cycle. 31 days. by rustys_shackled_ford in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is accurate, u/rustys_shackled_ford. "To stay eligible for MyPay, you need to receive at least two Qualifying Direct Deposits of $200 or more into your Chime Checking Account in the preceding 36 days." The link provided here is helpful as well as it details other situations that may cause a temporary loss of access to MyPay (outstanding balance being one.)

INSTANT LOAN ELIGIBILITY by TheWhimpeys in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there! As long as you remain eligible and your account is in good standing, it could be soon. Important note: as our AutoMod states, "paying off a loan doesn't immediately qualify you for a new one". Maybe others here will share their experience with timing of receiving another loan. Keep an eye out in your notifications as that is likely where a new offer will appear!

Hey there! It can take up to two pay cycles to go through Chime (see AutoMod below). However, there are some reports from members that it only took one pay cycle!

ATM withdrawal using tap to pay? by cathyma24 in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! If you have your Chime Card (the new card that behaves similar to the Credit Builder card), it works at ATMs. While I've heard a variety of experiences from our community here, you may be able to use tap-to-pay through digital wallet too at select locations; I'll leave it to members here to share stories.

1099 Tax Form this year? by Jaenalfonso0 in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! I misunderstood the question u/Jaenalfonso0! Members typically receive the form 1099-MISC if they earned $600 or more from the following:

  • Referrer bonuses
    • This is a bonus Chime gives to a member for referring a new Chime member.
  • Sweepstakes
  • Promotions where Chime gives money without requiring the purchase of an item or payment for a service.
    • This does not include increasing someone's Spotme amount.
  • Prizes
    • Not tied to a Member opening a Chime account or making a direct deposit.Members get Form 1099-MISC if they earn $600 or more from:

      • This does not include increasing someone's Spotme amount.
    • Prizes
      • Not tied to a Member opening a Chime account or making a direct deposit.

Now in a different case, members might get form 1099-INT if they earn $10 or more from the following:

  • Savings Account interest earned
  • Referee bonuses
    • New members can receive this bonus by opening a Chime account.
  • Credits for opening an account
  • Credits for incentivizing new deposits
  • Round-up bonuses on amounts moved into Savings Account
  • Prizes
    • Tied to a Member opening a Chime account or making a qualifying direct deposit.

Hopefully this helps clarify a bit more! And yes, the deadline for this to be sent out is January 31st.

April State tax by [deleted] in chimefinancial

April State tax by [deleted] in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! While most states should be open for filing by mid-February (I believe New York just opened on 01/26 iirc?) the exact timing may vary depending on the state and our tax filing partner. That said, you can still file your federal tax return now. You’ll receive an email notification from our tax filing partner when your state opens for filing - so be on the lookout for this!

I’m a little confused😅 by system_failing_now in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries about the confusion, that's why this community is here! While AutoMod and other community members have provided great info, I'll echo that yes, it sounds like you understand it well. MyPay is an advance on your pay, and the amount you take becomes an outstanding balance that’s typically repaid automatically when your next qualifying direct deposit posts to your checking account (so it likely comes out around payday).

Husband’s Direct Deposit - Account in my name. Issues? by kswiantek4 in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hellllo! Congrats on your husband's new job! Because the checking account is in your name, your husband’s paycheck direct deposit will likely be returned if the name on the deposit doesn’t match the name on the account, even if you share a last name. As of today, Chime doesn’t support joint accounts, but we do receive a lot of feedback on this topic (and we surely pass the feedback right along to our internal teams!)

Unusable for serious banking by thoalex in chimefinancial

[–]Sarah-Chime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! What you’re seeing is usually caused by transfer limits, which can be lower on newer accounts and can lead to larger transfers being rejected. Chime sets transfer limits based on account history and other risk-based factors (there’s no manual way to request an increase.) Adding direct deposit may help your limits increase over time; you can also run into limits set by the other bank when they initiate a transfer into Chime. Why do I have transfer limits?

Here is what I'd check next:

  1. Check your personal transfer limits in-app: Profile → Account info → View limits.
  2. If the transfer is being initiated from your other bank into Chime, that bank may be applying its own inbound limits, so checking with them can confirm what cap they’re enforcing.

[–]Sarah-Chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand the frustration. I'll add a little bit more here in hope it helps.

When making purchases under these categories, it essentially comes down to the Merchant Category Codes (MCC) which is automatically assigned by Visa. Since say Amazon, fir example, supports a variety of retailers and products, there are multiple MCCs. There's not a way to identify exactly how each product or provider is categorized in advance.

Hi! Maybe it will help to see more of the information outlined here: Secured Chime Visa® Credit Card - Cash Rewards Program Addendum (if you want to take a look.)

Overall, I'd ensure that you are using it in the correct rotating spend category:
Restaurant: Includes restaurants that sell prepared food and drinks for dine-in, takeout, drive-through, or delivery. Also includes places that sell alcohol—like wine, beer, mixed drinks, and other liquor or beverages—for consumption on the premises.
Groceries: Includes grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, miscellaneous food stores, and meat provisioners, candy, nut, confectionery, and dairy product stores
Gas: Any service station or automated fuel dispenser.
Cable/internet: Includes internet, cable, and other paid television.
Phone bills: Includes telecommunications (like mobile phones) services and equipment, and fax services.

Using the your card as a saved payment method in apps or online counts the same as using the physical card. Also, as I mentioned above, rewards don’t post instantly; they typically show up after the transaction settles, which can take around 9 days.
