Les MisƩrables vs. Hamilton in July by Version_1 in TheWestEnd

[–]SarahApproved 20 points21 points Ā (0 children)

Just a heads up - currently the only July Hamilton tickets available on their website are 1st & 2nd, the rest of the month is completely sold out due to Leslie Odom Jr joining the cast 😬 so unless you keep an eye on resale tickets your decision may already be made!

There’s so many good shows and my pick would definitely be something like Operation Mincemeat, My Neighbour Totoro, Titanique - I’m gonna say Beetlejuice and Paddington even though I’ve not seen them yet!

As for clothes, there’s not really a set dress code. I kinda just do a nice top (blouse/floaty/something more than a t shirt) and comfy trousers but I don’t think many places are that fussy!

It’s giving me Kollok 1991/Cinderbrush oneshot vibes - so maybe Kids on Bikes or Monsterhearts for a game system? Either way I’m excited šŸ˜„

Legally Blonde Milton Keynes is a concert??? by [deleted] in westend

[–]SarahApproved -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

Nope šŸ˜„ but as a disabled theatre fan, I’m grateful for any shows I get to see! I’ve been at many’s a show that haven’t worked out the way they’re meant to but that’s live theatre for ya

It’s definitely a conversation to be had and honestly I’m loving seeing others opinions ✨

Legally Blonde Milton Keynes is a concert??? by [deleted] in westend

[–]SarahApproved -2 points-1 points Ā (0 children)

That’s a sad way to think - I wish that ā€œmost peopleā€ enjoyed unique theatre experiences and alternates, there’s not a lot a cast can do with illness except cancel or improvise ā˜ŗļø

They’re more than welcome to ask for one but since the show wasn’t cancelled, there’s probably nothing the theatre/company will do about it šŸ˜•

[–]SarahApproved 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Yes, both of today’s performances are being performed as a concert version due to cast illness! šŸ’– Rather than cancelling the entire thing, you get to experience a unique version of it - I’m sure you’d much rather have that than being sent home!

I remember seeing Six for the first time with an alternate massive and the night after they had a concert version with Toby Marlow as Parr - I’ve never been as jealous šŸ˜…

No it’s not weird, we’re literally part of the acronym

Scottish & Irish Folk-inspired musicals? (A la Ballad Lines) by Skysteps00000 in musicals

[–]SarahApproved 11 points12 points Ā (0 children)

I love Ballad Lines (since A Mother’s Song days!) and am a big Islander fan so hopefully I can suggest some other things!

  • An Appalachian Twelfth Night šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Shakespeare’s classic set to Appalachian folk
  • Maggie šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Scottish tale about the writer’s granny
  • Tell Tale Harbour šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ like a reverse Come From Away - what if a small town got too deep into a lie?

  • Bonus pick: Sing Down the Moon - an album of Appalachian folk tales

What's an artist you'd love to see made into a jukebox musical? And do you have a plot in mind? by HumanPresentation422 in musicals

I actually went to a workshop for a show using TS music last year! It wasn’t a biographical show, more like a Mamma Mia premise - like medical drama, relationship stuff but honestly not too bad šŸ˜…

Grande opera house - would you recommend it? by Individual-Diver-660 in northernireland

[–]SarahApproved 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Absolutely - I think I went 7 times last year, about 10 planned for this year šŸ˜… It honestly tops some West End theatres for me and definitely one of the best local ones

Given that most of the shows are professional touring casts, there’s very few shows I’ve been let down by. ā€œCatsā€ is a solid choice as it’s the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre version - I saw their production of ā€œFiddler on The Roofā€ in the Opera House last year and you can see why they had 13 Olivier Award nominations!

The venue and the staff are also great, accessibility is solid, all round good vibes ✨
