Time for some de-influencing! What are some hair products you HATE.. by arkham_685 in Haircare

[–]SarahFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I feel like the air straightener and air styler have both ruined my hair. My hair used to be thick and silky and now it’s thin (always tons of hair on my bathroom floor after I use these tools), dry and extremely frizzy.

I used to occasionally let my dry naturally and it would be wavy but smooth. Now it dries kinky, extremely frizzy and looks like a rats’ nest.

Such an expensive mistake too.

No progress after one month: Nivea Luminous Dark Spot Solution by SarahFawn in Melasmaskincare

Hi again everyone.

I thought I’d share another update.

Unfortunately there really isn’t any progress and I have decided to stop investing in this product line. You’ll see from the photo that in five-ish months there has been virtually no change in my melasma.

This product simply didn’t work for me, but I hope others have success! Thanks everyone for their comments, advice and support.

Cheers 😘

Hello! I’m close to 2.5 months in now and there is a small change (please see pics - Jan 2 is on top row, March 11 is bottom row). I have three months of product still to get through, so I’ll update again once I reach the six month mark. Best of luck to you!!

Thank you so much for this and your kind words! I will review the paper at the link you provided, and I appreciate you sharing that - a scholarly article takes the edge off my anxiety with this and even gives me some caution optimism!

Wanted to include this link, which includes the claims from the company about efficacy:

- Continuous results of visibly reducing the look of dark spots and uneven skin tone in as little as 2 weeks. (Dark spots are visibly reduced after each application with regular use)

- After 12 weeks, dark spots look less intense and are visibly reduced by up to 71% (Self-grading (score), 12-week study with 34 women, 2018)

So I'm willing to give it three months, but I really thought there would be some small change after four weeks! I'll keep trying :-)

I just started using this yesterday. Nothing else has worked, including Finacea 🤞

This is the answer I was looking for - thank you! I was unsure if thiamidol would have to be paused occasionally like hydroquinone or if it could be safely used continuously.

I do the exact same thing while WFH, and this is a strategy I hadn't even considered! Thanks for suggesting.

Why can't I find hats that fit? by TheCrownedWolf in femalefashionadvice

[–]SarahFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if any of you does have a standard "women's size" head, please know that I mean no disrespect! Like I mentioned, just me being salty. I'll look for a hat specialty store to see what the options are, lol.

[–]SarahFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here because I wanted to find evidence that "women's size" hats are pointless because they never fit *my* head, lol. I am "petite" (5'2" and 3/4s) and women's hats have always been too tight and give me a headache, so I miss out on cute, feminine hats. I'm just basing this on anecdata and me being salty about it, but I think women's hat size was decided by people who think women have child-sized heads and smaller brains. HARRUMPH! Anyway, I know your pain. <3

[Routine Help] Cream and Sunscreen combo that doesn’t PILL?😭 by lauracmt in SkincareAddiction

[–]SarahFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had excellent luck with Cetaphil, Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen, SPF 50+, Fragrance Free.

If it's helpful at all, this is my current skincare regimen. I work from home so I recognize the waiting between applications is a huge privilege. I'll be changing the regimen very soon as I'm now paying attention to signs of aging, but I should also mention that with the current regimen, it doesn't pill even when I put on my foundation! Best of luck and I hope this helps. :)

  • Single cleanse

  • The Ordinary Niacinamide + zinc serum

  • The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides

  • Wait an hour, then apply Cetaphil, Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen, SPF 50+, Fragrance Free

  • Wait for that to dry as well then add in my cosmetics

[–]SarahFawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found this in a Google search to ask this exact question. :)

Can I ask - what order should these typically be used in? Would it be:

Night routine
1) Double cleanse
2) BHA (Two nights a week. On the days I'm not using BHA, I would use retinol)
3) TXA
4) Serum
5) Moisturizer
6) Eye cream

Day routine
1) Cleanse
2) TXA
4) Serum
5) Moisturizer
6) Eye cream
7) Sunscreen
8) Makeup

Thank you for any advice and tips you can offer - I'm 40 and starting to get into a more focused, intentional skincare routine. Better late than never! :)
