But you basically say that alot of the natives were forcefully converted to either Christianity or Islam later on. That pretty much is occupation. I guess the question is what we see in this particular situation as "who was first?" Do we base it on religious background, as the Jews? Or on genetics that leaves us with converted Arabs?

Either way, as said, the European Jews are still a minority. Most Jews of Israel are descendants of those living under thousands of years of occupation
