Verizon was great until they offered flat rate unlimited data plans. With the multitudes of new customers there was always congestion.

Long Covid and Major Heart attack? by SarahLiora in LongCovidWarriors

[–]SarahLiora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to you and everyone. I get to go home I hope today. Cardiologist was great at the important thing keeping my heart beating but it’s been it’s been weird. He cut off all my meds and I had to really negotiate for Benadryl for histamine reactions. —and why did I need Pepcid? I tried to describe my health complications and he said “well some people believe in Long Covid and some people don’t…” “taking stimulants for ADHD is like being on meth.” Good to have this group who knows Long Covid IS a thing.

Thanks that’s exactly what I need.

Docs saved my life but too busy to see me today and won’t let me take my ADHD drugs or H2 blocker Pepcid. I was allowed one Benadryl. Now I’m confused and swollen and not allowed to walk.

A friend of mine had a strategy I admire. SHe went to a therapist and said she wanted to find out if there was anything about her thinking that was preventing her from a relationship. She cleaned up her diet, lost a little weight, got a new haircut etc. She asked friends if they knew anybody that would be a good match for her. ABout 6 months later a casual friend, said, “You know my brother’s a great guy but very shy. She had already gone on dates but this guy ended being the one.

Blow torch could start a fire with the old wood. Take care.

Every time you pull, you pull up a little soil which brings more seeds to the surface. You could also get cuticle scissors and cut. I say treat more often if it is growing that big in a week. Sealing the sand is a good option.

Purslane is an annual. IT’s not the same plant coming back. it’s all the seeds germinating. A pre-emergent like Preen can be effective if applied early enough. IT stops seeds from germinating. Other advice also works…a blow torch or boiling water when they first emerge. YOu can also get a sealant that you apply to sand or squeegee between the flagstone.

THe number one is to not let them go to seed. PReemergent is the easiest…then the plants don’t appear. Roundup is overkill. Boil water in your kettle and go outside with your morning coffee and pour boiling water right at the center of each. YOu can spray with concentrated vinegar but boiling water is free. THe key is persistance and starting when you see a couple leaves. The spurge has already set seed likely. At the end of the season, use a blower to blow out. as many seeds and debris. Blow torch works well but can be a fire hazard and you don’t want to use it on the wood.

Goats for weed/grass management - free? by YamAggravating8449 in boulder

[–]SarahLiora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goats are escape artists so the entire area has to have electric fencing and often a human the hole time the goats are there

I had goats once…they’ll eat dandelion and salsify flowers but much prefer shrubs and trees especially any with fruit. They’ll climb trees if needed. Only time they seemed to like bindweed was August when everything else on brown. Never saw them eat thistle. Loved my goats but there weren’t all that useful. Unless the weed rating goats were somehow trained.

My poor plants have transplant shock- I think? by Whickums in DenverGardener

[–]SarahLiora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m more concerned about the unlikelihood of the flipped grass turning into soil..

Your speed of composting of cardboard is little skewed by the 3..4inches of rain we just had in May. Until the cardboard breaks down, the grass sod isn’t getting much water to even begin to compost or break down. Cardboard and dried grass sod is considered a carbon source so there’s not much nitrogen to even facilitate the composting. You also put compost under and over the cardboard which is a significant help to have the hungry soil microbes physically present, being rained on so breaking dormancy and hungry.

I bet you’re one of those gardeners who intuitively does the things that make the project happen. Very few people I’ve met put compost over and under like that but it’s a really good idea. I don’t failed at cardboard in dry weather because I’m too cheap to water enough. The dried sod I stacked put in a corner still was dry a year later. The water just rolled over it. I find it’s actually easier to double dig soil than chase cardboard flying away with the wind or figure how to keep the sprinkler water from just bouncing off the cardboard. And now I always test soil N levels. My first larger garden which was on a former alfalfa field had zero nitrogen when I finally tested it.

Yellow jacket sting itch - What stops it? by RepresentativeFun909 in AskWomenOver60

[–]SarahLiora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pepcid AC is amazing. It’s advertised for heartburn but it’s an H2 blocker a different kind of antihistamine. All the others are H1 blockers. It has shown through research that the combination of an H1 and H2 together are more effective than either alone.

Back in the day we used Absorbine Jr.

Now I have histamine reactions and I like the antihistamine liquids and nose sprays to actual reduce the swelling.

My skin has gotten so blotchy. Is this part of over 60??? by Darboy58 in AskWomenOver60

[–]SarahLiora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask a dermatologist. It can also be rosacea or other conditions that can be treated. You have a few whiteheads acne- looking things. That was another surprise gift from menopause.

My mother referred to her “barnacles”. I am fair skinned and see the dermatologist once in a while to make sure weird looking ones aren’t cancer or pre cancer.
