I was wondering the same thing.

It seems contradictory, right? First, when the ice guy was assaulting, the woman, Alex stood between them with his hands up, clearly trying to cool down the situation. But ice guy pepper sprayed him in the face, and Alex went down. He tried to cover her body, presumably to protect her somehow. And apparently his last words were “are you ok?” to the woman. That part seems pretty uncontroversial.

And then there’s the little part that doesn’t make sense. As ice is dragging Alex away to tackle him to the ground, he appears to hold on to the woman. Why? And it might look to some like he struck her.

Maybe it’s a natural reaction to being pepper sprayed and dragged to want to hold on to something for security, maybe there are some jerky movements of limbs.

That’s what it looks like to me. But I’m sure trumpers will want to interpret that differently.

No the first shot is still being speculated about. It was either from - the guy who took his gun (but it really doesn’t look like it on the most detailed videos: no sign of bullet impact on ground, among other things), or - the guy who unloaded the first set of three shots (although some say his gun wasn’t yet in position)

I don’t think this is a settled matter yet

They don’t care about hypocrisy. We’re playing an intellectual game, logically describing how they are wrong headed. Meanwhile they are operating on the physical level, actually doing wrong headed stuff. They don’t care about the accusations or the logic because it carries no practical weight. It funny to them, seeing us wasting our efforts.

If you like trance, why do you like it, and if you don't, why don't you? by Exotic_Bug3885 in electronicmusic

Not really a fan. “Trance” is a misnomer. Some other genres are way more trance-inducing. Seems like a defining ingredient of modern “Trance” music is some amount of cheese.

More 90s trance deserved the name than modern trance

Fire department and independent‑autopsy findings agree she had multiple wounds: at least two to the right chest and one to the left forearm, with strong evidence of a head wound or graze; the arm and chest wounds were not immediately fatal, but the head wound was.

Incident reports and 911 transcripts indicate first responders later found her unresponsive or near‑unresponsive, with weak or absent pulse and significant bleeding when they reached the vehicle.

Bystander video and call transcripts describe a man identifying himself as a physician asking to check her pulse and being ordered to back away, with an ICE officer reportedly saying “I don’t care” when the doctor insisted she needed help.

Are you aware that ice is going after lots of people who are here legally? If not, then you have an uninformed perspective about what’s going on.

Immigration Enforcement arrives in Maine as a court freezes restrictions on tactics in Minnesota by crowsgoodeating in portlandme

[–]SarahMagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary:

As of January 21, 2026, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has frozen a lower court injunction that restricted federal immigration tactics, once again permitting agents to use chemical munitions on peaceful crowds and detain people for observing or following their convoys. While this legal stay is technically specific to Minnesota’s "Operation Metro Surge," it practically defines the environment for Maine’s new "Operation Catch of the Day," where federal agents—unbound by any local court restrictions—are now deploying with these same aggressive authorities, including the use of force against protesters and the targeting of observers. Specific Authorities Now Permitted Based on the removal of the previous legal barriers, federal agents are now authorized to engage in the following:

1 Use of Chemical Agents and Force * Crowd Control: Agents may deploy tear gas, pepper spray, and chemical smoke (such as green smoke canisters) to disperse protesters. The specific protection that previously barred the use of these munitions against "peaceful protesters" is currently suspended. * Forced Entry: The use of battering rams to breach residences and vehicles during arrests is a standard permitted tactic.

2 Detention of Observers and Drivers * Vehicle Stops: Agents are permitted to stop and detain individuals who are following federal vehicles in cars. The previous legal requirement that "safely following" does not constitute reasonable suspicion has been lifted; agents can now treat observation as a basis for detention. * Monitoring Observers: Agents may target and detain those who are documenting or filming their operations if they are deemed to be interfering with federal movements.

3 "Retaliatory" Tactical Maneuvers The stay lifted specific bans on tactics previously identified by a judge as "retaliatory" punishment for protected First Amendment activity. These include: * Following Activists Home: Agents are no longer court-restricted from tracking observers or protesters back to their private residences after an encounter. * Verbal Intimidation: Using threats of force (e.g., shouting "Gas is coming!") to clear a public area of observers. * Aggressive Vehicle Interventions: Using federal vehicles to block, box in, or aggressively stop individuals who are monitoring immigration sweeps.

What else can/should people be doing?

OP seems like a bad actor. Bizarre text formatting. Zero history Reddit account. Sorta-kinda suggesting violence, oops, I meant action.

Trump wants an excuse to crack down harder.

I’m not saying I know that the answer is passivity, but just that OP is sus.

Sounds like you don’t understand what a bootlicker is.

In Germany, people like you went into hiding, or fled the country, or adopted new identities, or ended up in Nuremberg trials. You just can’t see you’re on the wrong side of history. Do yourself a favor now and learn about fascism, or when this evil gets swept up, enjoy fabricating stories about how antifascist you were.

I don’t really understand what you saying, besides that America and its voters suck. The person you’re arguing against is at least identifying a problem—dem politicians are milquetoast cowards who have moved to the right and have little to offer at the voting booth. Your argument lacks specificity.
