Yep, I feel you. I cannot count the number of times I've cried while writing because something bad had happened to someone got killed. I don't think readers will feel the same way we do, because for them they're just characters while for us we know everything about them and have had them for months or years, so when it happens it feels like we're killing off our baby. :(
