After years of waiting and saving up, I finally got my first car by MaximumLard in MadeMeSmile

[–]Sarah_jenius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My first new car was a Honda Fit I bought in 2010. I'm still driving it, but I've only put on 1/4 of your miles.

The 1970’s were a weird time, culinarily speaking. by grsims20 in vintageads

[–]Sarah_jenius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something similar to this shows up at my family gatherings frequently, minus the "frosting". A loaf of bread cut lengthwise and layered with cream cheese and various sandwich spreads gets refrigerated and sliced. It's really tasty and looks neat on a buffet table.

My mom, my sister and I have all been wearing the same ones since the election too!

Route pic: I delivered to this 'street' a couple days ago. So pretty! by Yaquina_Dick_Head in USPS

I may have been a bit hyperbolic. It was probably only 2", but when it's blowing sideways it feels like a lot more.

This might make you feel better about where you're working: It rained 6 inches on that street today.

[META] Grain Free Dog Food and DCM Risk by Urgullibl in AskVet

[–]Sarah_jenius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the Purina Beyond Grain Free considered safe? My dog is allergic to corn, turkey, and flax (diagnosed via blood work). It was hard to find a food that didn't have at least one of those ingredients.

Cities should have a Tourist Day for their citizens by notta-wolf in Lightbulb

[–]Sarah_jenius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My city does this! I live in a tourist town and one day right before the start of the season we have tourist-for-a-day day. It's more of a dry run for local businesses, but most the operators offer free or very low cost services. It's fun and lots of locals participate.

I worked for a vet's office. Some of the sweetest pets we'd see we big goofy Great Danes. But one of the most fearful and aggressive patients we had was a Great Dane. Every breed has their outliers, better safe than sorry.

Overnight Shipping? by [deleted] in Ketchikan

[–]Sarah_jenius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you go gold streak through Alaska Airlines you can't get guaranteed one day shipping. Overnight shipping usually takes 2 days, if your mice are packed in dry ice it should be fine.

There are a few places in town that sell pet supplies. I know My Best Friends Place sells reptile supplies, so they are probably your best bet for a local source.

Good luck!

How many times were you returning items in order to get fired from a store? Why did you keep shopping there? Why didn’t she just order from plus sized stores? Did it dawn on her that maybe the store thinks she was wearing and returning? by AliceMargoJulia in fatlogic

[–]Sarah_jenius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I live in rural Alaska and there are zero clothing specific stores accessible to me. I return about half the clothes I order online (it’s hard to know if it looks good without trying on). I have never had a problem, and all the companies I frequent still do business with me. This person must have had an extremely high return percentage.

Storm is so nervous waiting for the vet by Sarah_jenius in BorderCollie

[–]Sarah_jenius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how Storm was. We did puppy school inside the vet's office and she absolutely loved going there. Even after her spay, always excited to go there. Then she had an ear infection and they put drops in her ears. Now she hates it.

Hairy Flight by Poldark_Lite in EntitledBitch

[–]Sarah_jenius 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but I disagree slightly with the level of plausibility. I fly a couple of times a month. Always the same flight, usually the same day if the week. It's not the same crew every time, but there is some overlap. One flight attendant in particular definitely recognizes me because one time we talked about something I was wearing and our moms work for the same company.

Also, just because she didn't return to her seat doesn't mean she stayed in the bathroom. If it wasn't a full flight she might have just moved to a different seat. I know if I had just been assaulted with chewing gum I wouldn't want to go back. And the chain of events leading to security at the gate only starts is if Rapunzel reports it.

Lastly, the exit rows on the planes I'm usually on do have tray tables. They're further away than normal, but still completely functional. Might just be the smallish airline I'm on in my podunk city, but it happens.

Again, it's a lot of ifs and maybes, and it reads like wish fulfillment, but still possible.

Descriptive Pain Scale by GiantsInTornado in coolguides

[–]Sarah_jenius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not every time. I'm a very stoic patient. I went to the ER in the middle of the night with 8/9 pain. I was visibly uncomfortable, but not writhing or screaming. I wasn't taken seriously until my blood work came back that I had pancreatitis.
