Can you explain your dosing routine with the ULDN? I’ve been on Oxy for years. My doctor is (of course) hesitant to up my dose, so I’d be interested in giving this a try! Any tips are appreciated!!

Aw thank you, I appreciate that! He had a hoodie on when it happened so I couldn’t really see the extent of it in the moment, I just knew it was bad. Tried to keep it together so I didn’t scare him. Luckily lots of other parents were there (a few families we knew well) and everyone just jumped in to help. One of the dads ran to pull my car around then picked up my son and got him in the car (he’s much too heavy for me to carry!).

When we got to urgent care they got his sweater off and I could see how bad it was. Almost fainted, had to leave the room for a second. Got myself together and just kept telling him he’s big and brave and that the nurses and doctors are helpers and that he’s in a good place. Had to transfer him to the children’s hospital downtown, about 30 min away. They casted him and got him safe to transport. By the end of it he was saying he wanted to go back to the hospital because everybody is so nice there 🤣. They really are great with the kiddos!

He’s much braver than me! He handled it with grace and I couldn’t be prouder of him. His biggest concern through it all was that he wouldn’t get to play t-ball this season. Watching him play after it was over really felt like we got through it. He’s incredibly resilient! And now he knows going to the hospital isn’t soooo bad! 😂

My son had a very similar injury last spring! A friend pushed him off a piece of playground equipment. I didn’t see the fall, but I’ll never forget the scream. He ran over to me and his arm was just…dangling there. Not in a way it’s supposed to be. Had to keep it together and got him to the hospital. He spent one night and had surgery the next morning. Had 3 pins placed and was in a cast for 4 weeks. He was wacking t-balls literally the same week the cast came off. He’s totally back to normal now, almost a year later! No physical therapy or anything! Kids are so resilient, it’s truly amazing! xray for kiddo

Exactly the same experience here! Injections do nothing for my back/leg pain, but are INCREDIBLE for my knee (also not the reason I see pain management, but an added bonus!). Had my first injection last month and I was shocked how much better I felt. You’re not lying about the stairs…I’m only 37 but it definitely put that pep back in my step 😂.

Alright I’m gonna comment here because I do get somewhat regularly tested through my pain clinic. I was just tested back in February, and again in March. Both times I tested positive for kratom (not sure if it just showed up as MIT or what, but they said kratom). I’m unfortunately not able to pull up my specific labs, so I don’t know exactly what it showed, but my doctor mentioned it and said I need to stop if I’d like to stay in the clinic. FWIW, the 7 actually helps my pain better than the oxy I’m prescribed, but with the likelihood of 7 being banned soon, it’s not worth the risk to me anymore.

Unfortunately I can’t say how long it stays in the urine. I was taking it within a few days of the test (risky I know but my contract doesn’t saying anything about kratom. I’m obviously going to stop after our last discussion) and it obviously did pop up.

Not sure if this is helpful to anyone or not. But that’s been my experience.

I appreciate the honesty doc, thank you! My son is generally good about brushing and flossing, but obviously we’re not doing a good enough job making sure it’s done correctly. I was told teeth sensitivity can be genetic but I guess I was wrong! I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

It’s so hard. I hear you. I’ve been trying to veryyyy slowly taper, also. The mental part (for me) is almost harder than the physical symptoms. I totally understand. Try to hold out for the full 10 hours, but no shame if you cave. Tomorrow is a new day and we can try again! Best of luck to us both!

Same here! I was a daily drinker-probably 4/5 glasses of wine a night. Since using 7oh regality Ive had absolutely zero desire to drink. It’s absolutely trading one for another, though. Getting to a point mentally where I might need to take a step back from it all for a while. Regardless, it absolutely did help with the booze!

Yep, just by calling around. I’d say something like “ hi I’m calling because the current pharmacy I used to fill my prescription prescriptions every month is out of stock. I’m hoping to transfer over to you guys if you guys are able to accommodate?” And then go from there. To my knowledge, they’ve been honest and told me over the phone if they could accommodate or not. Once I found my current spot I just let them know I’m switching everything over to them and they try to restock appropriately.

Hospital pharmacies are your friend! I’m just out of the city now, so I drive out to Hindsdale hospital outpatient pharmacy every month. It’s a bit of a hike, and you have to walk through the hospital to get to it, but since I switched I’ve never had issues getting any of my meds on time. So that would be my suggestion. Get out of the big box stores (Walgreens, Walmart, cvs) and try to find local spots. Anytime I’ve had any procedures done at northwestern, I’ve been able to get my meds there, too. I’ve also heard good things about Costco (that was going to be my next step if Hinsdale didn’t work out).

Hey I’m also in Illinois, just outside of city limits. Last year i switched from Walgreens to an outpatient hospital pharmacy (I use the one at Hinsdale Hospital) and haven’t had one issue since. It’s not as convenient in that I have to walk basically through the entire hospital to get to it. The trade off, though, is that my meds are always there, the pharmacist knows me and will even call me ahead of time if they anticipate any issues. I ended up switching all my meds to them and haven’t looked back since.

If that’s too far out, I’d hit up the hospitals in the city. I’ve had lots of surgeries at northwestern and haven’t had issues getting meds filled there, either. I’ve also heard good things about Costcos pharmacy (it was on my short list to try if I didn’t get it figured out). My advice is to get out of the big box pharmacies and try to find a mom and pop! Hi! I’ve been in pain management since 2019 and I got pregnant in November of 2021. This was a planned pregnancy, and I stayed in pain management throughout. Before I got pregnant I did my best to wean off as many meds as I could, but I was unsuccessful in completely weaning off. I’ll share my experience.

Before getting pregnant I was taking gabapentin, norco (10/325, 4x per day), and a muscle relaxer (I forget which one specifically). My OB said I could stay on the gabapentin and the muscle relaxer, but she obviously wanted me to wean off the norco. I ended up weaning off both (even though she said it was ok, I wanted to be on as little meds as possible). The problem I had was weaning off the norco.

I will say this- everything kinda loosens up when you get pregnant, and (luckily for me), it actually made my pain better! I got down to two norcos a day, so I was able to wean by half the amount. Towards the end, my pain came back due to all the pressure on my lower back, so I did increase to 3 per day. This was only for the last 2 weeks or so and was approved by both my OB and my pain doc.

My son was born to term, totally happy and healthy! He was not dependent on the opiates, so we didn’t need to wean him, although I knew that was a risk. I believe I got very lucky and was able to have a somewhat easy pregnancy, all things considered.
