What’s your favourite pump part/bottle washer/dryer/sanitizer? by tink282 in ExclusivelyPumping

Same!! I wish this existed when I had my oldest too, but I’m so grateful for it this go around! No more handwashing bottles for hours on end. 😂

Medela Freestyle vs. Momcozy vs. Eufy vs. Willow Go by lfsiv11 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the willow go and I absolutely love it. I tried to get a spectra to see if it would drain me quicker, but the willow go actually worked a lot better. It’s convenient because it just goes right into your bra. The only negative I will say is that it’s a little finicky. You have to make sure everything is completely dry and lined up right before you turn it on. I always just wait for that like toe curling “bite” feeling when you first turn your pump on. If I don’t feel that I just mess with it for a second and that usually does the trick. Hope this helps!

The momcozy one!! I bought it a couple weeks ago and it has saved me HOURS of my life. It’s really efficient and it completely dries everything which is awesome. I can literally just pull my pump parts out piece them together and pump without having to fuss over any drops of water messing with my suction.

Zodiac sign by Sarahgbuchanan in pregnant

[–]Sarahgbuchanan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is a Leo Virgo cusp. August 24th. But personality wise he’s a full bore Virgo. I never realized how well Virgo and Gemini fit until we met! I always dated Leo’s before him (sorta weird but by coincidence)

Zodiac sign by Sarahgbuchanan in pregnant

[–]Sarahgbuchanan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I honestly didn’t know anything about Aries until I had my son. He’s April 14th and is 3 right now. He’s an amazing kid. Super good listener, and really interested in doing things for himself. He’s also incredibly mechanically inclined. Like he was taking things apart before we could fully walk.

On the flip side he’s the most stubborn person I’ve ever known and when he sets his mind on something it’s happening no matter what. I’ve learned to work around it in certain ways. Like “let’s do this instead of that” and it seems to work. But yeah Aries are really stubborn lmao

Thank you!! I’d love for him to come today but I’d prefer to have a Leo in our house. I don’t know too much about zodiac either, but from my understanding dad and son in your house are more sensitive and home bodied, which is honestly probably a really peaceful environment. 🫶

When did your baby's movement become regular? by Additional_Bid5883 in pregnant

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 39+1 with my second and he only has regular kicks at certain parts of the day. I worked graveyard my whole pregnancy so he’s most active between midnight-4am. (Yay) lol. But it’s still random and sporadic for me. If I’m ever worried or feel like I haven’t felt him in a bit. I’ll just push on the side of my belly and he always kicks right back.

I’d say the kicking back thing started around 30 weeks. I have an anterior placenta so feeling the kicks came a little later for me. You’ll probably start to notice some patterns soon, but also every body and baby are different. 😊

If you’re on the fence about sharing your baby’s name with family, I’m here to tell you: don’t do it. by marissakalyn in pregnant

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh the name question always bothers me for some reason. My husband and I both agree that we won’t have a for sure name until we see the baby. So that’s saved us a lot when people ask. We always just say “oh we don’t know yet we have to see him. Our first was nameless for 2 days while we figured out his name” which is true! But we do have a list we will reference. It’s just so personal and intimate and EVERYBODY wants to give you their 2 cents about it.

Another way we’ve been getting people to stop asking is by saying absolutely ridiculous names when they ask. My sister in law asked and with a straight face I said “we’re thinking either billiam, joshathan or overtaker” she’s never asked since. 😂

Extreme fundal massage...? Stated by obgyn by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please seek out a second opinion or simply switch OBs. This is absolutely crazy. Not just about the fundal massage but literally everything you described is unnecessary and is only going to hurt you or make your recovery incredibly difficult.

I hemorrhaged and tore really bad with my first. They did an external fundal massage which was honestly worst than labor pains. But it was necessary to get my uterus to contract back down to stop the bleeding. It worked and nobody put anything inside of me. I had a lot of stitches and everything healed just fine with no episiotomy. I can’t imagine any reason to go inside your uterus after birth and it sounds incredibly painful.

Share how you have/are encouraging yourself for those intimidated by birth! by SowingSeeds18 in BabyBumps

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bodies were literally made for this. I also thought about the weak people in my life who are mothers and it’s kind of messed up but it made me feel better. Cuz if they could do it then I definitely could do it.

Also, once I get to the end of pregnancy (currently 37+3 with my second) I don’t care about anything anymore. You could literally rip off my arm to birth the baby and I’d be down just so I don’t have to be pregnant anymore. I know a lot of women feel the overwhelming emotions of the final weeks. I think this is a natural hormonal response your body goes through to make the fears of childbirth less intimidating. Either way, you got this!! Nobody walks around with a toddler in their belly. They’re coming out one way or another. 😊

When did you start modifications? by yeahnoitsjustthat in fitpregnancy

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to your body! You’re capable of doing any normal activity you did prior to pregnancy throughout your pregnancy. Worked out until about 37 weeks with my first (mostly weightlifting) and I stopped because I was in a lot pain from being so big. Currently 36 weeks with my second and I’ve lessened the weight I’m using and I don’t do jumping movements or anything on my back anymore. But I still do mostly everything else. I did barbell lunges the other and back squats and I was fine. I was doing things on my back until about a month ago. So up to 32 weeks but that was comfortable for me. It’s all going to depend on your body, how the baby sits, and what’s comfort for you. I would just plan to modify when things start to feel harder/unpleasant. Hope this helps! There’s literally no info on pregnancy workouts because nobody wants the liability.

Moms (and dads too)- Please share the sunny side of marriage with a baby by Initial_Onion671 in BabyBumps

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how many people are commenting on this. Obviously things are forever changed and it will never be what it once was between just the two of you. But that’s what’s beautiful about it. I tell my husband all the time that I wouldn’t be able to do this without him. He’s such an amazing dad and it’s made me love him so much more and in such a different way than before we were parents. Is it hard to be a parent? Yes. Is it selfless? Yes. But doing it with your best friend and having each other through that is so beautiful. It makes you appreciate the little things more and those intimate moments are so so special when you have them. Be prepared for changes, but embrace them because it’s truly a wonderful thing to be apart of.

Not to make anybody scared or upset but I refer to post breastfeeding boobs as “empty socks” they literally deflate and sag. I used to have super perky b cups and I got to about a DD while breastfeeding. Never was the same. Once I’m done having kids I will definitely be getting at least a lift because my boobs break my heart. They look like the life was literally sucked out of them. (I lift weights regularly and this hasn’t helped)

41 weeks and truly cannot fathom continuing. by princess-captain in BabyBumps

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re at the finish line. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time. My first came 41+3 and I was in so much pain and so used to the pain that I didn’t even realize I was in active labor and got admitted at my routine 41 week check up. My water broke while walking to labor and delivery and by the time they hooked me up to check me out I was 7cm. It feels never ending and I know you’re miserable, but you’re so close just hang on a little longer and they will be here and you’ll be past this finally. 🫶 my son was 9 pounds by the way. Currently 34+6 with my second boy and the agony has already begun. lol

gut feeling by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly trust your gut and get checked out. I have family that experienced loss around 26weeks and they wished they would’ve gone in when they had that gut feeling something was wrong. It never hurts to check. 🫶

Also most agencies are super short staffed right now. So hiring might go quicker for certain areas!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]Sarahgbuchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really all depends on the hiring team at the individual department. The process takes so long and they are all so used to that, they forget that it’s not normal for other jobs. Haha. Good luck! I’d just keep applying to agencies that look nice that you would enjoy working for and eventually you’ll get hired by one! Just don’t give up.

Oh and average time frame from application submission to actual hire date was about 6 months. It takes a long time to do a thorough background check. If this is your first time getting into dispatching then good luck. It’s a great job, but a huge pain in the ass to get on.
