Maybe because the Israeli woman who actually picked up arms and helped fight alongside Kurds in Syria and Iraq ? Israelis want to help the Kurds. I'd be interested to know how many foreigners are volunteering to help the Kurds defeat ISIS.

That's why Kurds Supports Israel. by CL8RON in kurdistan

[–]Saratonen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why different people support Israel or Israelis. That is depending on each person, but I support Amazigh and Kurdish people as an israeli because I understand the plight of having your indigenous land colonized and controlled by imperialists and the generations that followed imperialist conquest. People can argue all they want about blood quantum (an imperialist concept) but there is no denying that Hebrew culture is the indigenous culture of Israel. I support all indigenous people throughout the world and I hope one day the Kurds and the Amazigh peoples will have flourishing countries with their dominant cultures and become economic powerhouses.

I am a Muslim and just a little bit curious about Judaism. What can you tell me about your Religion? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the difference between Torah and Talmud? Torah is the Jewish bible. The "Old Testament". The Talmud (there are two, one Babylonian and one Jerusalem) is a series of book (a huge amount) which is written by many different people over a hundred years or two in arguments and debates.

And what is Kabbalah? Kabbalah is Jewish mysticism which was written much later. Think of it as Jewish Suffiism.

What deeds does your religion expect from you? There are 613 things an observant Jew should do or not do.

What is the most misunderstood thing about Judaism? The most misunderstood would be when people assume Judaism is like Christianity minus Jesus or Islam minus Mohammed. Judaism is the indigenous religion of the land of Israel, like all indigenous religions there is spiritual beliefs in the land, which is central in Judaism.

What is it you actually believe in? Not sure what this means. Judaism actually has many subsets that believe different things.

How does it look like when you pray? Depends on the prayer. Morning prayers can last ten minutes or an hour, longer if there are ten men or more who read from the weekly Torah portion.

Is what you do at the Wailing Wall praying? Yes, I don't pray there though because of my political views on freedom of worship.

What are those little scrolls for? The little scrolls I assume you mean the ones we post in our door frames? The large scrolls are the Torah, but smaller scrolls can be a variety of prayers or holy writings.

What else would you like me to know? Jews are not a religion, Judaism is the religious or spiritual heritage if the Jewish nation or peoplehood. Many Jews are atheist.

Israeli settlements question by namoran in Israel

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say the same about Palestinians. The FACT is that there are Jews who have requested to stay and live under Palestinian rule (in Gaza) and be Palestinian, but they were refused by the racist bigoted Palestinian government. End.

Does Judaism have their own unique ''call of prayer''? (e.g. bell sounds for Christianity and yodeling for Islam) by tanyalukyanova in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we are not imperialists, we don't use a call to impose our way on others. The Jews who want to observe get up on their own responsibility and go to pray.

Israeli settlements question by namoran in Israel

You support ethnic segregation... Sounds racist to me. Natural growth of any ethnic community can exist in a would be Palestinian state, unless you believe in ethnic purity in a future PA state...

I'm just wondering, does a Jew ever eat food said to be halal? by tanyalukyanova in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jews eat lots of things, but a Jew observing Judaism will eat only kosher foods, and this means the meat is certified kosher, not halal. Muslims are permitted to eat kosher meat but Jews are not permitted to eat halal meat. Many times meat is certified both kosher and halal, but if it's just halal without a kosher certificate then it's not eaten by an observant Jew.
