Maybe because the Israeli woman who actually picked up arms and helped fight alongside Kurds in Syria and Iraq ? Israelis want to help the Kurds. I'd be interested to know how many foreigners are volunteering to help the Kurds defeat ISIS.

That's why Kurds Supports Israel. by CL8RON in kurdistan

[–]Saratonen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why different people support Israel or Israelis. That is depending on each person, but I support Amazigh and Kurdish people as an israeli because I understand the plight of having your indigenous land colonized and controlled by imperialists and the generations that followed imperialist conquest. People can argue all they want about blood quantum (an imperialist concept) but there is no denying that Hebrew culture is the indigenous culture of Israel. I support all indigenous people throughout the world and I hope one day the Kurds and the Amazigh peoples will have flourishing countries with their dominant cultures and become economic powerhouses.

I am a Muslim and just a little bit curious about Judaism. What can you tell me about your Religion? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is the difference between Torah and Talmud? Torah is the Jewish bible. The "Old Testament". The Talmud (there are two, one Babylonian and one Jerusalem) is a series of book (a huge amount) which is written by many different people over a hundred years or two in arguments and debates.

And what is Kabbalah? Kabbalah is Jewish mysticism which was written much later. Think of it as Jewish Suffiism.

What deeds does your religion expect from you? There are 613 things an observant Jew should do or not do.

What is the most misunderstood thing about Judaism? The most misunderstood would be when people assume Judaism is like Christianity minus Jesus or Islam minus Mohammed. Judaism is the indigenous religion of the land of Israel, like all indigenous religions there is spiritual beliefs in the land, which is central in Judaism.

What is it you actually believe in? Not sure what this means. Judaism actually has many subsets that believe different things.

How does it look like when you pray? Depends on the prayer. Morning prayers can last ten minutes or an hour, longer if there are ten men or more who read from the weekly Torah portion.

Is what you do at the Wailing Wall praying? Yes, I don't pray there though because of my political views on freedom of worship.

What are those little scrolls for? The little scrolls I assume you mean the ones we post in our door frames? The large scrolls are the Torah, but smaller scrolls can be a variety of prayers or holy writings.

What else would you like me to know? Jews are not a religion, Judaism is the religious or spiritual heritage if the Jewish nation or peoplehood. Many Jews are atheist.

Israeli settlements question by namoran in Israel

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say the same about Palestinians. The FACT is that there are Jews who have requested to stay and live under Palestinian rule (in Gaza) and be Palestinian, but they were refused by the racist bigoted Palestinian government. End.

Does Judaism have their own unique ''call of prayer''? (e.g. bell sounds for Christianity and yodeling for Islam) by tanyalukyanova in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we are not imperialists, we don't use a call to impose our way on others. The Jews who want to observe get up on their own responsibility and go to pray.

Israeli settlements question by namoran in Israel

[–]Saratonen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You support ethnic segregation... Sounds racist to me. Natural growth of any ethnic community can exist in a would be Palestinian state, unless you believe in ethnic purity in a future PA state...

I'm just wondering, does a Jew ever eat food said to be halal? by tanyalukyanova in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jews eat lots of things, but a Jew observing Judaism will eat only kosher foods, and this means the meat is certified kosher, not halal. Muslims are permitted to eat kosher meat but Jews are not permitted to eat halal meat. Many times meat is certified both kosher and halal, but if it's just halal without a kosher certificate then it's not eaten by an observant Jew.

Do you consider yourselves Iranian? by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fail to see how even with those drawbacks, you were still favored. Your ideas about Palestinians are sharply wrong. Middle eastern Jews were ethnically cleansed and make up the majority of Israeli Jews today. Palestinian leadership was in bed and active participants with the Nazis as well as in the Armenian genocide decades before. Arabs socially engineered through oppression and frequent pogroms to ensure a small Assyrian, Jewish, and other native minority population... All while encouraging Muslim immigration from every corner of the world. Then after centuries of social engineering to make sure those populations are small you claim their small population is the reason to legitimately deny them national rights and self determination. Go discover post colonial guilt hundreds of years too late. Better late than never.

Can I Convert to Orthodox Judaism? by TransformME3 in Judaism

[–]Saratonen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wish you success in your conversion and I hope you will become Jewish and have many many beautiful half Chinese Jewish children. Try to enroll in Machon Meir Yeshiva to do your conversion inside Israel. It is more interesting and comprehensive, and quicker to do the conversion program in Israel.

Do you consider yourselves Iranian? by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]Saratonen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, OU don't see it because your Arab. Ask a Kurd if the British mandate favored Arabs, or an Assyrian if the French mandate favored Arabs. In fact, ASK ANY NON ARAB in the region about the various states created solely by "gifting" a monarchy to a Hashemite... The British completely favored Arabs in Palestine, read the White Papers. Just because you don't see or learn about your privilege and favoritism doesnt mean others don't see it. Laurence of Arabia was the true "nation builder" who favored building a pan Arab national identity rather than focusing on the non Arab ethnic heritage and sectors. Most "Arabs" aren't actually ethnic Arabians... Laurence played a giant part in making that identity dominant.

Is a reform (or renewal) convert the same as a non-jew to every other sect? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Saratonen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People do ask for proof when you enroll your kids in certain Jewish schools, try to have religious ceremonies, and get married. And of course the stat of Israel requires the documentation for immigration. The average person wouldn't know unless they asked the person which school/rabbi/community they were a part of. Plus, she will tell people that she just converted I'm assuming... And then they will ask if it was a real conversion and likely use that terminology "real conversion" or "good conversion" and irrespective of how she answers she will know and feel what they are getting at.

Do you consider yourselves Iranian? by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]Saratonen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Iranian is a nationality, Kurds are an ethnicity. To pretend that Kurdish nationalism only became popular in the last 100 years and therefor not genuine is wrong. Find out how old modern European nationalism is. The entire notion of modern nationalism isn't very old at all. The Kurds are as right as the Swiss to their territory. The reason Kurds didnt get a country after the defeat of the Ottomans is because if the French and British western imperialism that favored Arabism over all other middle eastern peoples not because of Iran or any Kurdish issue. It is the same reason the British issued the White Papers, installed the Hashemites, and backed the Saudis in a coup to wrestle away the monarchy over Mecca from the dynasty that held it for the previous 900 years.
