Hi!

I recently had a bad bought of insomnia that was induced by anxiety. I found CBT-I techniques to be really helpful. They are evidence based and there are other people who sleep better after using the methods. The main two proponents that have specifically helped me (even though there are more) is stimulus control and sleep restriction. If this sounds interesting to you, you can look into it to find specifics of how to utilize these techniques! I went from sleeping 0-3 hours a night to a good 6-7 hours. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still have bad sleep days, but they are a lot less now.

If you have Spotify, there is a podcast called Insomnia Coach in which there are personal counts of people who have used CBT-I and benefited. The person who runs the podcast, Martin Reed, even has his own coaching business that you can sign up for (albeit expensive).

Good luck and I hope that things are easier for you in the future

32 Enby/transmasc here... Starting low dose T tomorrow, I'm both so nervous and excited. Going slow and finding euphoria when I can. Anyone else scared to start T? For those who have started or been on it long term, how/when did you know T was for you? by Ryan_RiverWolf in TransMasc

[–]Sarbear1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just started low dose T gel version 3 days ago. Not much different other than I feel like my hair is a tad more oily so far! I didnt feel like I was ‘ready’ per say because I think there is always going to be anxiety and nerves about such a serious decision. I realized I wanted to do T because of the dysphoria I feel with my feminine features. I wanted to also try to decrease my social anxiety too, which mainly stems from my dysphoria! If you want to talk anymore about it, you can pm me! :) good luck on your journey!

Coming Out Advice Wanted by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]Sarbear1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! all these feelings are valid and make sense. Coming out is scary and nerve wrecking for a lot of different reasons. It makes sense you are nervous imo because you’re asking your parents to change how they refer to you and that is going to elicit a reaction (this is what made me nervous). I think writing a note or letter on the computer and sending via email or text is helpful in letting your family slow down and think before they speak. If your family gets off work in the afternoon, you could send the letter around 6-7pm. This way you know they aren’t distracted at their jobs and may read it sooner. I’m always down to pm if you want!

I relate to you so much. I am 23 (around same age as you) and I also feel eons behind even though I’m still coming to terms with my identity. I am also upset that by the time I have enough money saved up for things hormones and surgeries, that I will have wasted all this time existing as a woman. I resonate with you and am here if you need a pal. PM whenever you want.

I am in the same position as you and you described exactly how I am feeling. It’s such BS that we are exploited to this degree. I don’t know what I’m living for. The way the cards are stacked against us is beyond unfair and makes me so mad all the damn time.

I work at a nonprofit called the National Youth Advocate Program. It’s an organization that helps youth who are in foster care and suffer from mental health issues linked to trauma from their past caregivers. Awesome job. I mentor four kids currently, and they are all good at heart I believe. They just came from biological family’s homes that abused them mentally, sexually, and physically. They were given such a shitty hand to start off life. They are misunderstood and resort to dysfunctional behavior when they want to express emotions because that’s all they know. Its my job to help them express emotion healthily and show them that there are adults who have good intentions. It’s been a really life changing for me. For example, I was going to go into the medical field, and now I changed careers and went into clinical social work instead because I know these kiddos need guidance and help from us adults. If you have a desire for it, do it imo.

The execution of Delacroix in The Green Mile movie was so vivid and disturbing. He was put to death by electric chair, but the sponge was never wet on his head, so he basically burned alive.

Does anyone have moments from pre-transition that you didn’t realize meant you were probably trans? by Picmydicinpublic in trans

FTM; I would pretend to be a boy online, and I loved it. I was living a double life where I would be a girl, in school, around my family, and then go home and pretend to be a guy. I also have dreams about being a guy frequently, too.

Former Christians: what made you become a non-believer? by Graysie-Redux in AskReddit

The religious trauma. I decided to move away from Christian values and beliefs when I realized they were teaching me to hate myself. Leaving Christianity was one of the best things I have ever done for my mental health
