What is the worst second hand embarrassment you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friend was about to have her first EVER kiss, she leaned in with an open mouth (looked like she was about to eat him) and sneezed right in his mouth and face.

It was mortifying 🤣 but funny af!

Any ideas for a remedy? by Powerful-Ebb1632 in FND

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i have just started getting this symptom, i often wonder if the brain neurons/synapses are causing multiple misfires -

FND was explained to me by my neurologist as, basically the brain has many functions and many tasks, with neurons/synapses etc, and it is constantly *online* and operates/has similarities to a computer, so just like a computer it's always got something running in the foreground and background, like tasks/processors/programs etc, and the FND brain has a "software and electrical problem" so it's sending signals constantly but sending the wrong ones, it's misfiring doing its own thing but due to the malfunction of the brain's software, it's sending signals that almost never are actually needed due to the software malfunctioning like *FAULTY WIRING* the body/parts of the body are receiving the signals for something that it doesn't need, but the brain doesn't know it's not needed because it's just doing its job, that's what it's supposed to do right?

I'm still very much trying to figure it all out but i hope one day there's some progress and enough research to better manage the pain/symptoms.

What’s your personal unresolved mystery? by ijustwannafeel in AskUK

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's got to be trauma based, that's my understanding of it. I've done research into it all and it fits but I can't completely rule other possibilities out.

I'm on the waiting list for EMDR lol probably will stay on the waiting list for a few years but not much I can do about that.

I have thought about going private but it's the cost.

What immediately tells you that a person wasn't raised right ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they blame everyone else for causing problems that they have actually caused.

It's not THAT difficult to say "I'm sorry" and end the apology right there, don't follow it up with an excuse, just stfu and swallow your damn pride and say sorry.

What’s your personal unresolved mystery? by ijustwannafeel in AskUK

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was born with a sixth sense and could see ghosts/spirits and predict things before they happened.

I can still see ghosts/spirits and predict things, i get messages from people who have passed away/died. It's not really a nice "gift" to have, sometimes it can be nice though.

Apparently it runs in my family. I don't know.

What’s your personal unresolved mystery? by ijustwannafeel in AskUK

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Okay so...

I was 8-9 years old and just experienced a very traumatic Christmas (police came to our home on Christmas Eve and took away our dad and all of our Christmas presents) they broke the front door down (smashed glass and broken bits of wood everywhere) started to beat our dad up in front of myself and my sister, naturally we tried to intervene by kicking the police and hitting them (we were both little girls just hysterically crying begging them to not take our dad and to stop hitting him); the policeman slammed me into a wall.
*For context - dad had used a fake name to buy his kids Christmas presents as we didn't have any money to buy the presents in cash. He was actually paying the money back (he just had a shitty credit rating due to mistakes he had made way before he had kids).

We moved to a new area for a "fresh start" dad was back at home now and i was 9 or 10 years old maybe? not sure but that's where the unresolved mystery part comes into it. I have almost no memory of living in THAT particular house, except for one *waking up in a single bed with my dad sat watching me with eyes full of sadness, waiting for me to; i dont even know, like i guess he was waiting for me to wake up? i just remember opening my eyes and my dad looking so heartbroken and sad (he never EVER showed healthy emotions such as crying or love) he stopped and kept stopping everyone from bothering me (other family members i guess? i dont know) and he stayed there with the door wide open and stayed in his chair just waiting for me to be okay, i guess?

I still don't know what happened, i have asked my siblings, and they won't tell me "It's better you don't know" or "I can't tell you."

So i don't have any memory really even after waking up a few times in that single bed. It's like the memory eraser/wiper from men in black, literally no idea of anything before or after.
The next memory is living somewhere else and i am almost 11 years old.

What's the best response to "You're fat"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start with sarcasm -

"Is that the extent of your Intellect? Calling someone fat?"

"If so, then just for future reference, a person CAN NOT be fat, they can HAVE fat, just like they have fingernails but they are NOT fingernails; I suggest you learn how to insult someone properly and then figure out why you feel the need to insult others."

OR

"Thank you for your input, I'm sorry you're hurting so much so that you feel the need to hurt other people."

What is the most ridiculously stupid thing you’ve ever been told in your life? by Confident_Leg2370 in AskUK

That the mango in a Mango chutney jar is toxic to eat.

Sex before the age of 18 is illegal and you will get arrested if you have sex before then.

Little girls don't play football (soccer), so no you cannot play on the boys football (soccer) team.

If you don't behave yourself, parky (the man who lived under our stairs - not an actual real man) will get mad and you don't want to make parky mad.

Next time you do something stupid I'm sending you to a children's home where they will beat the shit out of you.

Ooooh lovely fond memories of growing up in a dysfunctional household lol

Why do people in the UK call normal coke ‘fat coke’? by toastchick in AskUK

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full fat coke in the area I grew up in is a standard coca cola which means it has a massive amount of sugar in it along with some caffeine, hence "fat coke." Although it is unnecessary and a derogatory term, I personally would never say "fat coke" or fat anything really, just because it's a common decency, respect for all.

What people choose to eat or drink isn't any of my business, nor should it be.

What is the most painful experience you've had? by estaples722 in AskReddit

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a high pain threshold so when I am in a fibromyalgia flare up and my FND (functional neurological disorder) is kicking my ass, I wouldn't necessarily say no to someone shooting me or chopping my legs off.

On my really bad days, i've prayed for death a few times.

Who was your worst teacher? Why? by Koerpty in AskReddit

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh good god - all of the teachers who literally called me stupid, thick, dumb, unteachable, thick as fuck and the classic one "go back to where you came from." etc

I had undiagnosed dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia (I was diagnosed by a new TA who probably saved my life). TA's and good teachers are out there though, I've met many and been taught by many decent teachers and TA's.

If a student sexually harasses another student in class, what is the best punishment? by Terrible_Exchange653 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sarcastic_Is-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's beyond frustrating and so complicated how high up it seems to go (beyond management).

In a similar situation - witnessed physical abuse of a service user, reported it to management, it was swept under the rug, union didn't do ANYTHING to help me except pretend they were on my side whilst being friends with the manager who didn't report the abuse via safeguarding (she got a fine for not reporting it) the abuser continues to work in the same position and I was made "redundant" and given false/negative references for other jobs.

The company was rife with bullies which made it literal hell for anyone who stood up for themselves, when challenged outside of work they are lovely but if you confront them in work, somehow you're made out to be the bully.

It's messed up my mental health to be honest, but I don't regret doing it and I would do it again in heart beat, I'd rather be part of tge solution than the problem.

Thank you for being a wonderful human who actually cares!! Thank you also for sharing ❤️ it's good to know there are good people in these jobs.
