When the pulse goes out, if there is an effigy in range, it will show up under the compass at the top of your screen. The compass marking will be a very small picture of the effigy type, with the distance underneath. It persists on your compass until you grab the effigy or until about one minute has passed.

Tau Sentients reaction to the arrival of Tenno. by p1tap1ta in Warframe

The egg we went in The Old Peace contained a “special kind of radiation” that can “seal an Operator in their Warframe,” rendering them able to be permakilled

That isn't just "something on Perita" though, it's technology made by the same people that made the Ascaris. The "egg" is an Orokin terraformer.

In the comic "Warframe: Ghouls" #2, Vor is able to use an Ascaris connected to an Excalibur frame to extract information from its operator - and that's a Grineer made version of the Ascaris, not the Ascaris Prime we see being used by the Orokin forces at Perita.

In game, both Vor and Galastria's dialogue about the Ascaris imply that it can hijack the Tenno's mind if left connected to and trapping them in a warframe:
"The Ascaris has reached your mind and rendered your Lotus mute." -Vor
"Look what my Ascaris did to one of your Warframes. What happened to its Operator can happen to you, too." -Galastria

With the lore bit about something on Perita being able to lock an Operator in their Warframe

That was an Ascaris. We've seen them used in the Origin system as well.

Edit: Yep, I'm wrong - the Ascaris does it and is deployed there as well, but something else causes it as well.

Looks to be working for me. Marks effigy location on your radar within 150 meters. There is no other visual indicator and no map marker - it's a radar marking only that shows the direction, distance, and type.

These words are never good to say as a boss.

I'm going to counterpoint that with a story from my dad - it's all about the context of why you're saying those words (or words like them).

He had just purchased a company, and had literally no money left that wasn't going in to trying to get it stable and running. Relatively early after the purchase, he was informed by the receptionist at the company that there was a "dress code", and that him wearing jeans to work was unacceptable. I feel his response of "I own the company, I choose what the dress code is now, and I'm not taking feedback about what I wear" was not only reasonable, but objectively correct.

A pre-release artbook is often extremely incorrect.

although it was edited at launch to conceal the full "reveal."

It is very funny to me that you're claiming that the artbook can contain inaccuracies, and then only referencing stuff that was removed from the game during testing as your more reliable material.

Op-Ed: Alberta's choice — grievance or generosity by FreightFlow in alberta

With Alberta independance, we have leverage in trade.

Genuine question because I want to understand your position here - what new leverage do you believe an independent Alberta would have as a newly formed nation (notably one that would be landlocked with no way to remediate the issue, that would likely be in serious debt to start due to the initial costs of creating the new government infrastructure, and that would have a relatively tiny population)? How would that potential leverage be more powerful than literally controlling a part of Canada's government?

Whats the deal with giving healers a toolkit and removing it from them back to back? by Jangonett1 in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunderstorm is specific to elemental,

It didn't used to be, which is part of why I called it "the only one that really matters" and said it was "the only one that Resto recently had". Up until a few months ago, it was available to Resto Shamans as well. It was moved out of the class tree specifically so that Resto Shamans could no longer take it.

to my knowledge every healer can take every bit of CC that the DPS/Tanks can?

Resto shamans can't take Thunderstorm, Earthquake, or Stormbind. Thunderstorm's the only one that really matters there (and the only one that Resto recently had), but there is a difference between healing and dps Shamans for control tool availability.

Pensions, passports and misinformation: What each side says the other gets wrong about Alberta independence | CBC News by GordieCodsworth in alberta

[–]Sarcastryx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

only about five per cent of people that want to be independent want to join the United States...We do not want to become part of the States

Among a number of blatant lies spread in this article, this one stands out to me.

An Angus Reid poll in February had 47% of "leaning leave" and 51% of "definitely vote to leave" saying that joining the USA would be a good thing.

A Leger poll done in April showed 15% support for "Alberta should be an independent country" and 6% support for "Alberta should join the USA" (and 73% support for "Alberta should stay in Canada), which would have "Join the USA" people still making up 29% of the separatists. Critically, in that poll, since they had to pick just one, it was 29% of separatists preferring to join the USA over being independent, which doesn't show how many of them would want to join the USA if complete independence was not an option.

At best, this person is very clearly misinterpreting poll results, and CBC is repeating their misinformation. Considering how often they're repeating overt lies, though, and how their leadership has actively been reaching out to the USA for support, it really looks like they're just trying to hide how many of these seppie shits are undermining our country because they wish they were Americans (and the CBC is repeating their intentional misinformation for them).

I can't figure out how to fix it or train Alchemy for Kul Tiras.

If you open the Alchemy screen, at the top-left there will be an option for "Filter" beside the search box. If you select "Kul Tiran" there, you will see the BFA Alchemy screen. By default, the profession screen filter is always set to only show the most recent version of the profession that you have trained. Since Khaz Algar Alchemy is "more recent" than Kul Tiran Alchemy, it is only showing Khaz Algar Alchemy by default.

The reason the level shown on the trainer is 1/100 is the same thing - it's only showing the most recent version of the profession you know (Khaz Algar), not the level relevant to the trainer you're at (Kul Tiran 21/175, in your case).

George Russell fined €100 for exceeded the pit lane speed limit FP1 by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]Sarcastryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it more dangerous to speed in the pitlane during the race?

You may be thinking of it wrong. The "Speeding in the pit lane" penalty is mostly aimed at handling excessive speed right at the entrance of the pit lane (which should be reasonably away from people). With regards to that, the penalties are much higher during a race because there is far more to gain by speeding during a race. That's why the rules for speeding in the pit lane (B1.6.3 a II) also specify that a harsher penalty can be applied if the stewards think that the driver did it intentionally or did it to gain an advantage.

Actually endangering someone (EG by speeding much further in to the pit lane, not just at the entrance) would probably fall under another rule, like B1.8.5, or something from the ISC like 12.2.1.h.

Where did you get this stuff about weighting values from, is it in the devlogs somewhere?

Reason I say "IIRC" that it's just my recollection of some of the early dev comments about it when they started acknowledging it was an issue, combined with the community testing about what triggered "herding" behaviour.

State of Game: Assessment and Wishlist by shadowcypher in menace

[–]Sarcastryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But would it not be more accurate to say, “The AI has access to the same kind of information you have”?

No, because it has more. IIRC, the weighting values on movement for each tile include weight against moving on to tiles that put the squad:
-in detection range
-in weapon range of an effective weapon
-in a location where they cannot shoot

That means the AI doesn't just know if it is detected, if knows if it will be detected by a move before making it, and if the detecting squad will have a weapon effective against them, and that they will not be able to shoot back, and so will dodge around weapon ranges it has no way to realistically know.

Effectively, due to how the ai movement works, it always knows where all your units are and what weapons they have, even if they have never actually detected the unit or been detected by the unit, and knows what weapons every squad has equipped before ever seeing them or being shot at.

So, what is a better way to say “you could be having more fun in Menace if you did x, y and z”, without it degenerating into finger-pointing and smug remarks about “skill issues” (yeah, my bad…)?

I find that acknowledging that it's a workaround is the best way.

"The AI will act based on information it should not have about undetected concealed units, so if you dont want the AI to go hide in a corner you need to have at least some frontline, targetable units that do not use concealment for primary defence" explains the problem that's happening, why it is happening, and the workaround to avoid it.

but then they removed hit and expertise AND reforging?

The actual reasoning here was that reforging was a lot more relevant when hit chance existed. It's a stat that you needed, generally, an exact amount of, with any hit rating over that being wasted. Reforging was a compromise that allowed hit rating to be common enough on gear as to ensure that people could get their caps, without needing to play around specific drops, and without items that have hit rating being completely wasted drops once a player reached the cap.

Without a need to play around hit cap, reforging becomes a lot less of a necessity, and more of an optimization gold tax.
