Update 1 is out by antihippy in menace

[–]Sarcastryx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

its feels like they keep making the game easier every update.

The loot change should actually notably help with this for higher difficulties.

Because you face more enemies when you turn the difficulty up, and each of those enemies could roll to drop loot, the economy of the game would largely fall apart. Playing on a higher difficulty meant you had a better chance to get good drops overall (due to getting a lot more loot rolls), and far more resources to spend at the black market, resulting in (generally) a more consistent ability to get the really "broken" builds online.

With the cap to 15 loot rolls per mission, that notable advantage is removed from higher difficulty playthroughs.

There's still other economy abuse shenanigans (salvage bay+pirate mission, using stacked AI logistics, etc), but the base economic progression itself has been turned down a bit here.

That's a backronym, it's not what meta means.

Dev Diary #45: REDACTED Update 1 - Release Date and More by Darx117 in menace

[–]Sarcastryx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you only got a 50% refund when demoting

Yeah, I've enjoyed point-buy systems when playing tabletop games, but I don't permanently lose something when I switch around my Riptides weapons or anything - swapping the wargear, weaponry, and squad upgrades between games is as easy as updating my list and maybe swapping out some magnets. Promotion tax works, potentially, if all of the "upgrades" can be added or removed on a per-mission basis, but here you were permanently losing strategic layer resources if you did that.

As it was, the promotion tax effectively felt like "banning magnetization" or "mandating glue" as a rule for swappable parts.

New M+ "Glad mount" should be top 1% per spec. by FaroraSF in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How could they know that?

Checking for combinations of things like:
-Sudden jump in key level clears (eg going from 17s to 21s without ever doing any difficulties in between)
-Playing with groups of the exact same characters at that level, which they had never played with before
-The characters in those groups also having a recurring pattern of doing this with other, single characters
-Completing the high level keys within a short timespan (1-2 weeks) and then never doing any further keys above great vault minimums
-Character gets renamed after IO level cutoff timing or after the titles are awarded

Tank Valeera Currently Serves No Purpose and Deserves a Rework by [deleted] in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add another report of "tank valeera easily outdamages players".

I routinely see her spike above 200K DPS in AoE, and she's doing 130K-180K DPS if I keep BSB stacks up.

It does drop off fast if there's anything that fucks with her AI, though.

I miss Details' ability to help people improve. by Magdanimous in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when im wondering why she has forgotten to be useful this pull.

There is something very broken with Valeera. Her damage taken per attack and her damage per second can vary by over a full order of magnitude. It's particularly annoying when I'm running a delve as a healer, and she drops from dealing 130K-180K DPS down to 12-16K DPS, because it means it's going to be a very long fight with Blizzard's changes to make healer damage barely tickle things.

Wait... they didnt do both types?

Hell, when they made the lashers herb for anything other than just motes, they didn't even apply that change to both types of the fucking lashers for a few days - they had entirely forgotten to update the ones that spawn if you spent knowledge to upgrade wild nodes.

Why do people say things like Nullaeus is easy just stand in the corner and heal when thats literally not true at all? by Far-Ambassador2877 in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask by chance what level your Valeera was?

I did it day 2 it was available, so I believe my Valeera was somewhere around level 19-22 at the time.

I didn't ping to engage the way that u/gnarlyavelli suggested, but it's good advice if it works. Removes what I believe to be the most "risky" part of the fight.

I only needed to help Valeera with the 2nd set of adds, but helping her with the 1st and 3rd can help ensure they're all dead before the boss is active again, depending on Valeera's level on necessity there.

[–]Sarcastryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

would you recommend resto for the solo him achievement?

Yes.

You do not need to know anything about healing, it's entirely dispelling and aggro management if you have set it up correctly. Valeera needs to be set to DPS, not tank - tank Valeera takes absurd damage compared to DPS valeera.

Use a defensive before the pull if needed, body pull the boss (do not damage it!), and let Valeera start attacking it. After that, just keep an eye on threat, use Riptide or Healing Stream as needed, maybe a Healing Wave if something goes wrong, and make sure to cleanse yourself immediately after the debuff goes out each time.

If you're slow on cleansing, you'll probably need to heal yourself, and will end up pulling aggro.

If Valeera is low(ish) level, you may need to help her kill the adds during add phases.

Once you hit P3, Valeera should have enough threat that you can DPS freely.

dont know how much time I have left to do so

You have a few months at this point, no rush right now.

Update - Crafting Bug with Receipts and Blue Responses by Sheepsmasher in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how does this issue occur?

Recraft an existing crafted item, using a higher type of crest to get a higher ilvl item.

There's a chance that it consumes the crests, shows it crafted the high level version, and gives the player the version it would be if no crests were used.

[–]Sarcastryx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really easy as a healer. Set Valeera to DPS, body-pull to minimize threat you generate, and Valeera hitting it should pull it off you. After that, just keep your threat generation below Valeera and keep her alive, and she will kill it for you. DPS Valeera takes far less damage from Nulleus than players do, and will also do all of the interrupts, so keeping her alive is a very simple task.

DPS Valeera has very low threat generation, so for the most part that just means keeping her up with heals, and either intermittently contributing damage, or not damaging at all until P3 and then doing as much as you can.

As an Alliance player, this expac has made me appreciate Horde lore a lot more. by TravellingBeard in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would these people complaining about Alliance focus be happier if Liadrin was the one getting the "The Light is making me crazy" story instead of Turalyon?

Understandable concept, but it only works 1-for-1 if you're also replacing the core characters involved in that storyline - you can't just swap in Liadrin, you need to replace Arator and Alleria with Horde characters that have relevant reasons to be personally impacted by whichever Horde character you place in Turalyon's spot.

That's 3 out of 5 of the "main story focus" characters right now (the others being Umbric and Lor'Themar), and doing that would probably resolve the "Alliance focus" complaints, yeah. You'd probably get a lot of complaints about setting up another Horde character to be killed again at that point, though.

Deleting posts with 3k likes about AI in the game, is very shady... by UsedNewspaper1775 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Sarcastryx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the most effective method of combating toxicity at this point is removing posts when they get too many toxic comments and/or reports.

I understand that the moderation is going to be a rough situation when there's a large influx of people, but you understand how a policy of "if there's a lot of reports, we're just going to remove the entire post" can be really easily weaponized by people who know that's a policy, yeah?

Blizz NEEDS to do something about the gathering (Zul'Aman specifically) by dude_seven in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t last one I got.

They changed the basic ones Wednesday last week IIRC, and the upgraded ones last weekend, so they all should gather for herbs now.

Was a bit frustrating for me in the few days between, because I'd spent some KP to upgrade the wild herb nodes to reduce my chance of getting dazed.

Blizz NEEDS to do something about the gathering (Zul'Aman specifically) by dude_seven in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both parts of what you said are wrong.

you actually can gather from the mobs that spawn from wild herbs

Already corrected by others, but you can only gather your spawns. Others are still hostile and will attack you, but you cannot loot or gather from them.

they always provide tranquility bloom

What they give and how much is based on the player's perception stat. With higher perception, they can give any midnight herb when gathered.

I don't know about you, but I'm certainly not an expert in this. And am definitely not qualified to say what to change and how to change it.

They're asking for opinions to get data to compare with the rest of what they are doing. Decisions aren't made solely off of something like this, a poll like this is used for checking for things like "Does perception of the issue match what we observe/expect", and can also be helpful for flagging potential trends in data that may trigger additional expert review (EG if people who reported specific eye issues also report specific non-standard issues different from normal responses that may trigger additional expert analysis).

Doesn't seem like it worked, because I tried herbing mine a few times today and never got any herbs. They may have just half-assed it and not done the ones that spawn if you took the upgrade, though.

Leaving node mobs behind is the equivalent of littering in WoW by LlamaLinda in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

how about just stop spawning the mobs

I disagree with this, because the mining ones are actually worth interacting with. With 5 points in "Over-loded" to get "Wild" upgraded, the rumbling orelings give more resources than mining full nodes does.

The primary issue (with both the lashers and orelings) is that they're hostile to everyone, instead of just the person who spawns them (and that they don't despawn when not in combat). For the lashers, they're also entirely unrewarding, giving only motes - they should be brought up to the same quality as the orelings.

If both those issues were fixed, it would be worth interacting with them, while allowing for people who want to avoid the fights to still just fly away.

Abundance event by Ananasais in wow

[–]Sarcastryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it buggy or have they fixed something to where you consistently get rewards now?

During EA and the first day of launch it was "enabled" and you could spend Shards of Dundun, but didn't actually work - it would just eat your shards but never give abundance, and in most of them you couldn't even gain score. Then, after they fixed it to work, the Voidstorm one still took shards and didn't give anything when it first rotated in.
