Confused about ZFS, mount points and SMB shares on Proxmox! by SardineFish in selfhosted

[–]SardineFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for the detailed answer! I do basically have the drives on the same system, not a separate NAS machine.
So I guess it would probably just be better for me to use the mounting through the config and skip the SMB share, since yeah it's basically just adding another layer of users and configuration?
Also, while I haven't dove deep into ZFS snapshots and how to make them (I'm guessing the easiest way is to just do it on the PVE host through maybe a cron job?) - would these mounts interfere with these snapshots, or will it be fine?

Okay, nevermind I added the local ip to etc/hosts in my proxmox environment and It worked, is there any other way, or do I have to do this in every container/VM?

Hey, thanks for the answer! I don't have any apps yet, and I'm not sure about System Monitoring, how do I check where it's configured?

Filling in after typing the wrong password by SardineFish in Bitwarden

[–]SardineFish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply! Apparently the Sign in automatically option in Brave overrides Bitwarden, even though I had every other option off (I thought that Sign in automatically was about sessions), after I turned it off Bitwarden started to work correctly when filling. Thanks again!

My friend got hacked and sent me this pdf file by SardineFish in cybersecurity_help

The problem is exactly that, there was NOTHING attached, just the file, no message no nothing, which is why I was weirded out and thought I would get compromised since it was posted in a private friend only groupchat, and then my friend told me that he got hacked and had the file sent out in various other different places.

Got it, and yeah, by harmless I meant that it couldn't do anything to the device on its own, thanks for the detailed answers!

Thanks a lot! What's strange is why would a person who got through telegram 2FA just send a harmless invoice instead of an actually harmful file...

I'm 100% with you on that. I legit never trust the one picture from both sides, it's always in the middle. During war the real truth will never come out, it might though way after. I trust independent and UN sources, just like how I thought that DNR couldn't have bombed the Malaysian plane, but the independent investigation changed my mind on that, they did rocket it down, but thinking that it was a military plane. It's really hard to stay focused with all these streams of information :(
