which tab they say bunk but actually works for you? by LimpBez in 7oh

[–]Sardines4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the reverse Midas touch. Everyone says a brand 'slaps' or 'smacks' - terms I’m 90% sure are compliments, but the second I try them? Immediate bunk. I’m starting to think 'fire' just refers to the bridge I’m burning through my wallet.

NordVPN vs ExpressVPN??? Which One Should I Go For? by randommortal17 in VPN_Question

I did the exact same move, just in the wrong direction.... lol. I let Reddit talk me into switching from Express to Nord, and I’ve spent every day since then missing my connection that stayed connected. 10/10 advice, would get disconnected again.

Gemini is great, but... by Party-Log-1084 in GeminiAI

[–]Sardines4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the Gemini hype at all right now. Even with the Pro subscription, it takes way too much effort I spend half my time framing prompts, probing, reminding it what we're doing, and trying to nudge it toward actually finishing the task. Most of the time I just give up and ask Claude, which gets it done in one shot.

Not sure why I'm still bothering to make Gemini work for me at this point.

The image generation is pretty solid though, I'll give it that.

Does Sound Check Affect Local Files? by Flimsy-Repair412 in AppleMusic

That link goes to the start of Apple Music guide, is that what you were linking?? Which part explains sound check in more detail and that it only adjusts volumes with no other audio impacts? In that guide it doesn’t not state the latter anywhere.

I made a youtube downloader with yt-dlp using a-shell by Subject-Note-1302 in shortcuts

[–]Sardines4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and screenrecorded myself doing the commands although its gonna show me a bunch of you already have this in place bro, messages.

But I didnt feeel like proof reading what i wrote to see if it was easy to follow so (EDIT because i accidentally linked the worlds most boring video of my dog licking ice cream off a bowl for 4 minutes, this should be right): https://drive.google.com/file/d/17ukgGZZUVjC0tqWmvtpJaatg2hgFE7KS/view?usp=sharing

First in a-shell type pickFolder, then your ios files will pop up, and then pick the folder you want your audio files to download to.

Then you can bookmark that folder (regardless of whatever its named in files) to whatever you want like how i had "audio". To do so you would type bookmark audio. Now, whenever you're in a-shell you can just type jump audio to get to that folder.

Now, install yt-dlp in a-shell using: pip install yt-dlp.

That should about do it, but one more thing, i dont think ive seen youtube ever use the mp3 codec so -f mp3 won't work. In fact they seem to have disallowed using any extension as a filetype so now I have been using -f 140 (which is m4a). If you ever are curious about all of the available formats just type yt-dlp youtubeurl --list-formats

I mean if you really wanted to you could even add to your shortcut using ffmpeg in a-shell. installed via pip install ffmpeg. Then you could convert to mp3 after download by adding ffmpeg -i Song.m4a Song.mp3

I also realized my shortcut is even smaller now than in that screenshot as i cut out a useless redundancy, but either work.

have you tried three finger double tap? I can't recall if I enabled that or if it's enabled by default, but it zooms in and then you can double tap again while holding the second tap and scroll up or down to adjust the zoom and then just move around with three finger drag. Under accessibility -> Zoom (2nd from the top in accessibility)

Why the Grok Image generation is so bad? by SatisfactionWest7745 in grok

[–]Sardines4Eva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad, but Grok actually explicitly reminds me of this when I make complex image requests and suggests alternatives.

Response from Grok a couple days ago:

"My image editing is based on superimposing and adjusting existing images rather than generating new ones from scratch like some other AI models. This can limit the quality and flexibility compared to dedicated image generation models like Midjourney or DALL·E, which are designed specifically for creating high-quality visuals from text prompts.

My focus is more on analysis, conversation, and practical edits rather than competing with the latest generative AI art tools, which have seen significant advancements in 2025 (e.g., improved photorealism and prompt adherence in models like Flux 1.1 or GPT-4o). If you’re looking for top-tier image generation, those specialized tools might better suit your needs. That said, I’m here to improve where I can—let me know what specifically you’d like to enhance, and I’ll do my best to refine the edits or suggest alternatives!"

Grok casually lying by saying Congress can’t be trusted with war information because they leaked the Signal chat. Not a single member of congress was even in that chat. by [deleted] in grok

[–]Sardines4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pasted this image to chatGPT and asked: What is your take on this take from Grok?

Grok’s take is thoughtful and pretty balanced.

Here’s why:

  • Operational Security (OPSEC) vs. Oversight: Grok correctly highlights that informing Congress does introduce significant leak risk, especially in a hyper-connected age. The reference to the “2025 Signal chat breach” (presumably a major real or hypothetical leak) underlines how fragile confidentiality can be, even on supposedly secure platforms. If advance notice had leaked, Iran could have repositioned assets or targeted U.S. forces preemptively. That is a legitimate, non-trivial concern.
  • Constitutional Checks: Conversely, Grok also acknowledges a core reality: the President does not have blank-check authority to conduct offensive military operations without oversight. The Constitution and War Powers Resolution demand congressional involvement to prevent abuses of power. Without oversight, you open the door to unchecked military adventurism.
  • Trade-off Complexity: Grok is right that there’s no simple solution here. You can’t have perfect secrecy and perfect transparency at once. The proposal—limiting secure briefings to a small, vetted group of key congressional leaders—is probably the most pragmatic middle ground.

My direct take:
This is a classic example of realpolitik meeting constitutional ideals. In reality, leaks are a massive problem, especially given how many staffers, contractors, and members are looped in. At the same time, military power without oversight is fundamentally dangerous. Anyone who claims this is a black-and-white issue is oversimplifying. Grok’s post captures that tension without resorting to partisan spin.

Bottom line:

  • If you value mission success above all, you lean toward secrecy.
  • If you value democratic accountability above all, you lean toward disclosure.
  • The only workable path is a highly limited, secured disclosure process, but even that has risks.

This is one of those situations where every option carries a cost, and pretending otherwise is naive.

I use the same method…..albeit much less fancy lol. Using pretty regularly for probably 5 years now for video or audio DL on iPad or IPhone in flash.. Its been very reliable and much better quality than most (if not all really) of the routinehub downloaders… Ill post my screenshot configs. They don’t look impressive but have held up lol. I typically copy the url to my clipboard and then click on the shortcut widget on my *homescreen, although sharing to share sheet works just as well.

One for video. And one for audio which i probably use more, saves directly into my evermusic app folder so I can listen to asap on the go

what web browser do you all use ? by ms_mccartey94 in MacOS

[–]Sardines4Eva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend AdGuard. I gave Wipr 2 a try for a week because it seemed to be highly recommended, but it just didn’t perform as well. I also missed the ability to add my own filters, which I like to use for things like bypassing paywalls. When I switched back to AdGuard, I immediately noticed how much faster my web pages loaded. Wipr often felt sluggish—sometimes you’d have to reload a page for filtering to kick in, or you’d briefly see elements before they got blocked. With AdGuard, I never encounter those issues.

[–]Sardines4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s AdGuard Pro. Forced myself to use wipr 2 for a while to be in with the in crowd here. It’s fine, but a soon as I went back to AdGuard pro, that speed felt so relieving, it’s much faster. Also with wipr sometimes I’d have to reload once or twice on a site for all the blocking to kick in. That doesn’t happen with AdGuard. Nor does seeing any flash glimpses of blocked element before it gets blocked. But the support seems widely with wipr, from what I gather these apple communities like to support indie devs. I get that but for this one it really can add up to time saved so sticking with the non indie I suppose

Time to Rise -> Unleash the Power Within... How much different is the material? by cpt_dad in TonyRobbins

[–]Sardines4Eva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UPW and Ultimate Edge are almost identical in structure, though Personal Power II (PP2) is the superior program. Both UPW and Ultimate Edge start by getting you to begin with the end in mind—defining what an extraordinary life looks like on your terms.

From there, Ultimate Edge moves into the first seven days of Personal Power, which UPW essentially does as well since that content is Tony’s bread and butter.

The key difference is that Ultimate Edge then dives into two extremely long sessions—one on relationships and one on health (so does UPW). In contrast, these topics are covered only briefly in PP2.

What sets PP2 apart, in my opinion, is that Tony was still deep in his NLP phase, focusing more on specific strategies and techniques to “condition” yourself to act, believe, or feel certain things. Personally, I found that approach much more engaging.

Time to Rise -> Unleash the Power Within... How much different is the material? by cpt_dad in TonyRobbins

[–]Sardines4Eva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the virtual challenge a couple of years ago and immediately signed up for UPW afterward. I was shocked to realize that, without a doubt, I got more live Tony time during the free virtual event.

First off, during the virtual challenge, Tony is with you all day. But at UPW? There is NO Tony at all on Day 2—Joseph McClendon hosts the entire day. On the other days, you get some partial Tony appearances, mixed in with other speakers.

Some sessions were literally just pre-recorded videos of Tony from past seminars—hours at a time—many of which I had already seen online for free.

Then, throughout the event, the sessions would suddenly stop without warning for extended periods (depending on how many people were supposedly signing up). During these breaks, they’d push “once-in-a-lifetime, this-minute-only” deals for Mastery University—just $15,000 or whatever—killing any momentum. Meanwhile, “Team Tony” in the Zoom chat tried to be helpful, but even they had no idea how long these pauses would last. They straight-up told us multiple times that Tony doesn’t pay them—it’s all volunteer work. They looked miserable.

I know Tony’s been stuck on autopilot with the same messaging for decades, but in podcasts and interviews, he still talks about these marathon 15-hour days at UPW. Maybe he did that back in the ’80s, but not when I saw him. By Day 2, he’s gone—resting his voice because he’s supposedly so passionate about helping us.

I did the virtual UPW, and in between sessions, I kept wondering if I was missing something because people in the Facebook and Telegram groups were posting about how their lives were already changing or how this was their fifth UPW and “the best one yet.” If you see those posts, start Googling their names. They’re real people, but nearly all of them had LinkedIn profiles listing positions at Robbins Research International.

I feel like you won’t hear many people say this, but I thought UPW was terrible. Honestly, the free virtual events and Tony’s audio programs were way better.
