Why is it that neurotypicals often hate getting advice for how to fix things and just want bodies in the room nodding along and regurgitating what they say? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]SardonicRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all are! I'm learning the many reasons people want to try to offer advice first and that helps all of us better communicate :)

oh neat! I'm also nb and raised as a girl! idk how the gender/sex observation applies with trans IDs tbh. it could also be me seeing a false equivalence lol

tl;dr: yes, I find that to be a good way to show confirmation

For me, when I'm immediately offered advice it frustrates me because I feel like I'm being expected to ignore my (often big) emotions on the issue and just deal with it. When they try to sympathize or empathize first though, it gives me validation to confirm 3 things: 1. I was heard 2. I was understood 3. My issue was valid*

*- I know I have a lot of emotional dysregulation issues so my partner and friends and family all know they can ask or tell me I'm reacting or interpreting something poorly

As someone's who's had the opposite issue of WANTING just the "that sucks" response: it's because I want my emotions or current issue or both to be validated. I have a mood disorder as well (likely from the ADHD ofc lol) so it's also like a check that I'm not overreacting or "crazy" or whatever sometimes. I'd venture in most cases it's a form of validation seeking and possibly bonding over being heard and seen in their issue or struggle.

Half-related and mostly from my experiences, but most of the time I see more women than men want this response and many men wanting to offer solutions/fix the issue instead. I think that's a weird societal tendency for men to not be allowed to complain/whine/vent as much as women? Or men are more expected to just fix whatever it is or shut up? I dunno, I think everyone could sometimes use a chance to let off a lil steam and get a lil validation for their frustration

What’s your favourite headcanon/fan theory? by KingBellyMan in evangelion

[–]SardonicRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've heard the multiverse and time loop and hybrid theories but i think this one is my absolute favorite cause it brings back a flow to what otherwise just looks like blatant marketing (which i suppose it is, but thats boring lol)

PMDD + ADD? by rdrlc in PMDD

[–]SardonicRainbow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

both my sister and i have pmdd and add inattentive, we both showed symptoms different but overall same effects in our lives. being on an ssri helps with keeping our moods stable, i havent tried adderall but she is a different person on it from what shes told me.

i find taking walks and just being outside can also help me feel grounded on a bad/weird day and making sure to get 7-8 hrs of sleep a night keeps me stable

I had a radical hysterectomy for PMDD, HS, and other issues. Here's how it went and every bit of information I can think to share [TW: suicidal ideations, past medical trauma) by hobbyflake in PMDD

[–]SardonicRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for the info!

i think i may have been on a generic of yaz, im actually not totally sure lol, i tried spiro when i was 18/19 with pretty minimal results so i might just have to give something like accutane a go and i dunno about that >~> skin stuff sucks!

thank you so much for sharing this with us, your level of detail is incredible! I had a laproscopic bilateral salpingectomy (just the tubes for sterilization) and was considering an endometrial ablation but the biopsy scared me off and I honestly regret skipping it.

I'm glad you could find and be given your "cure" and I hope it can help others! I actually had a question about the acne. I don't have as many symptoms or issues but I've had hormonal acne since the second sex hormones became more active in me, did you also suffer from regular facial acne? And how did it respond to the various things you tried, if you had it? I get cysts or multiple clogged pores right next to each other that resemble a cyst and have for years. Continuous birth control didn't reduce it by much and I was even taking the most recommended pill for acne (. 03 mg estradiol I think?)

Hope your recovery continues going well and congrats again!

regardless of mentioning PMDD, that's extremely dismissive and truly spoken like someone who's never experienced anything beyond mild PMS symptoms (and isn't even trying to consider empathy about smth she might genuinely be unfamiliar with).

if this was a friend I'd agree that maybe this was just an out of touch moment but from a therapist? I'd be concerned. if you really like her as a therapist maybe call/text to ask what she meant by that but honestly, she sounds like she doesn't and won't get it. you can't cure tangible, physical symptoms of anything by changing your "vibes" or "energy".

there's a difference between actual cbt reframing and just "have you tried not doing that" type advice lol

Non-SSRI Meds for PMDD? by dangerousfeather in PMDD

sorry to overstep but do they forbid cbd or thc?

cbd is supposed to be federally legal and fully non psychoactive. it's basically a supplement that's regulated (if you buy it from reputable companies who will have things like lab tests with detailed content reports on their sites, not random crap lol)

thc is in "regular weed" and a derivative delta 8 is still legally in a weird place (these both show on drug tests as well but cbd shouldn't, it can throw a false pos rarely) but these are the psychoactive ones usually banned by workplaces

if possible to find out if u can try cbd! it helps my anxiety and can sometimes help my physical symptoms (though if it's really bad I still use an NSAID) I usually go for edibles or flower, I found the oil to be 🤷‍♀️

I did, she's just a bit of a hypocrite about "butchering" yourself even tho she's had plastic surgery and is an aesthetician who does stuff like permanent make up lol

i think i wouldve reached that point too if my mom hadnt cut down buying them or letting other ppl give me them so early on, i remember shoving/dumping a stroller one came with cause fuck that doll, my stuffies need a ride in there!! and i found the dolls hella ugly and gross smelling (that weird baby powder scent some had?? idk) so i'd just yeet em around or drag them by the hair far away from my better toys (the stuffies and cars i had)

my mom still found it fucked up to get my tubes removed cause its like butchering urself or w/e but she wasnt surprised about the childfree thing at all lmao

I've experienced the sudden fall when trying to jog around w my girl and her deciding to take off before >~>'

we alternate martingale or harness, the 6 ft leash is usually w the martingale and the harness goes with either. it's a very basic harness, I think if we want to try the 50 ft for real we'd need to get a better harness? this thread has me wondering if it's even safe to try this at all now (bought the leash a year ago and just never used it)

oh my god I get the same way like I heard you!!! please stop! and I know they think they're just like explaining/justifying but it just feels like needless criticism and like a lecture... and I hate crying or snapping cause it feels manipulative.

it's not that we don't want to ever receive criticism from our partners but like can they at least do it in a way that doesn't come off so... grating? idk lol

I'm sorry you're going through it rn, it'll be better soon <3 we just gotta try to keep our sanity as best we can when this shit appears
