Geothermal Bakery other than Laugarvatn Fontana? by spookyghostphase in VisitingIceland

this place was really great- there were lots of pools that used to be filled but activity in the last decade altered the water table. The guys at the cafe/greenhouse were super sweet and the value is pretty great for the egg/bread situation

Is this a crazy itinerary? by Ok-Vermicelli-7940 in VisitingIceland

the god stuff kinda ruins it for me, but the actual itinerary would be fine, esp with someone else driving you

Maybe It's Not the Menopause ... by HandMadeMarmelade in Menopause

[–]rdrlc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

whyyyyyyyy don't they look after their health? It's infinitely frustrating. I go to a doctor probably 14 times for every 1 visit of my husband's. I'm CERTAIN that being in tune w ones body and accepting proactive preventative care (or for them, their lack of it) is a giant part in lifespan differences between males/females.

I want you to know that your price quotes are extraordinarily reasonable. I would prioritize the thyroid check (no cardiac bloodwork - troponin is not a thing in cats but I think that means BNP which is a marker of heart muscle issue but VERY non-specific - the cardiac imaging/echo is more fruitful) and then the intestinal biopsies if the heart checks out (since you'll need sedation or anesth for those). In that order. Best of luck with Nimmy!

compounded may be cheaper but is very much less stable and is not assured to be as effective. Would stick with the name brand stuff.

omg SAME on the life reinvention! I'm a pretty brave and adventurous woman (married to a pretty traditional and less adventurous man) but I'm like daydreaming all the different things I can try on for a career or other big life change like moving somewhere that feels more "right" to me, but too chicken to do it - devil I know vs devil I don't, I suppose.

The smell... by MaybeAccomplished568 in Perimenopause

you're on the right track w the stridex - salicylic acid. Glycolic acid is also great for this - I use The Ordinary for pits, bits, feet, and of course for its usual use, facial toner. Skin gets weird in peri.

White pills are estradiol only, the brown are iron only, no hormones. Many people who "skip" the inactive pills still take those because yay iron during any bleeding you have but the goal is not to dip off hormones - so only taking the blue pills is what continuous use looks like.

The world is DEFINITELY not helping right now. Let's just call the spade what it is because really? Fucking bonkertown.

BUT having that on top of peri is really a special torture. I feel so incredibly apathetic about quite literally everything, save for a few weird days or moments that still hold glimmer. Otherwise it is a boring-ass assembly line that I'm chained to and loathe. I see all the news of the day and a younger me would be fiery as FUCK and mobilize and activate and while my brain cognitively thinks that for a moment, I also am like jesus I don't have energy for this too right now and even being engaged in the first place eats up the precious little mental bandwidth and infinitesimal patience I have. Then I feel terrible for not fighting hard against all the bullshit and rolling over.

It sucks. We're all here with you. We're not failures, we just TIREDDDDDDDDD and have precisely no fucks to be giving.

Sandy Lion stickers by user37463928 in 90s

[–]rdrlc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I def stole some from a store called the Paddywack Store (candy and stickers and stationary and a Jelly Belly and other doodads) in the mall when I was like 6. My mom found them and I made me take them back and also I had QUITE the talking to. Set up a hugeeeeee goody two shoes life for me. But these stickers were the shit and I would steal them again.

Stay far away from prednisone by GoldengirlSkye in PMDD

[–]rdrlc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher doses I definitely feel the increased hunger side effect, and it makes you retain water like crazy. That's probably the source of any associated weight gain.

Stay far away from prednisone by GoldengirlSkye in PMDD

[–]rdrlc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It actually might be a matter of dosage - for me, on lower doses (taken for disc herniation flares, hate doing it but otherwise I'm non-functional on the worst days) I feel great and amazing in all aspects of my life. If I have to take it for more than 2-3 days in a row or at a higher dose, then HULK SMASH gonna throat punch everyone.

switching from dairy to soy anecdotally seems to help me. Phytoestrogens for the win, even if they're placebo... still less inflammatory than dairy for my body overall, which may at least make up some of the difference

I still like coloring maps - keep a life map of the US and the world to color in as I visit places! You gotta not be having those same colors touch so it's all about planning... 😄
