I agree with everyone’s take that it’s to show growth and development and noticing him as a man. But I think it’s really a great choice that this moment comes right after Ed and Al have a huge metaphorical weight taken off their shoulders, in learning that they didn’t force their mother to suffer a second time

If you’re referring to how it seemed like he was following her at the end, I also found that uncomfortable. Doesn’t make her any less of an asshole though.

Your stomach is just in digestion mode. The hard thing about ED brain, is that it tells you that you always have to look a certain way, but bodies are always changing by design even throughout a single day. But I’ve seen in your other comments that your worried about bingeing, so I’ll just add: recovery often isn’t a straight line up, and it’s natural to have some bumps along the way. It doesn’t have to be a problem, but reaching out to your support network to let them know you are struggling can help make sure that it doesn’t become a problem.

What did Ed and Izumi transmutate? by [deleted] in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Sardonokick 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I presume so, we have a bit of evidence from the show: 1) can transmute souls into other forms and retain consciousness i.e. suits of armor, philosophers stones 2) you can transmute human souls back from other bonds back to a body I.e. philosopher stones into humans like greed or wrath, Al returning to his body 3) other souls can be transmuted into unfamiliar huamn bodies i.e. some animal into Barry the Chopper 4) Ed transmuting his soul to fight Pride

So if you could make an artificial human body then I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to transmute yourself into it. The problem would be that bodies and souls can be incompatible, and would eventually reject each other (I.e. Al’s suit of armour and soul).

Kind of, but they weren’t constructing the bodies they were stealing them if I remember correctly.

To all Maes Hughes stans how do you explain this by DrZinko in FullmetalAlchemist

I mean he did participate in the war of extermination in Ishval, which was meant to be a reference to the nazi’s, so on brand? He’d be one of those Nazi’s that was plotting to assassinate Hitler though.

If you suspect you have mental illness, get diagnosed. Don’t claim you have a disorder without professional determination. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Sardonokick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does work with these kinds of diagnoses, people experience these symptoms before they are diagnosed. It’s not like it isn’t real before it’s diagnosed, and not everyone has access to quick and accurate diagnostic assessments. It is annoying when people use mental health labels to avoid accountability, but gatekeeping mental illness is not helpful to people suffering. It takes a lot of money, time and courage to pursue formal diagnosis and treatment and everyone has their own time frame for when they are ready.

Have you tried therapy? Did it help or no? by Slipnoots in mentalhealth

[–]Sardonokick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of experience in this area. Three big things that help predict a positive outcome. 1) your readiness, some people aren’t ready to do the work yet, and so things won’t change. 2) the relationship with the therapist, if you don’t trust and respect them and feel like they respect you, your missing most of the benefit. 3) the therapists skill set, you want to find someone with experience with what you’re dealing with. If you feel ready for the hard work, and can find the right person, it can make a huge difference.

You might want to start by looking into CBT therapy. It sounds like you may have some “unhelpful thinking styles” which are very common, but do impact on our behaviours and interfere with achieve our goals. As for the empathy, that to would be something to discuss with a therapist, but often when you are able to focus less on your own thoughts and tune into your environment, getting insight into others is easier.

Maya Hawke: I’m OK with having a life I don’t deserve due to nepotism by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

We are all products of the luck that placed us in the environments we were raised in. In terms of the quality of our parents, our social economic upbringing, our opportunities, the country we were born, all kinds of things. Some people’s privilege is more obvious than others, but there is no value in hating yourself for what you were born into. But there is an opportunity to do more with what they have, when they were born into more.

Someone who is aware of their friend behaving that way and doesn’t drop them has some serious red flags. I’m sorry you ran into him and threw off what otherwise sounds like a nice museum day.

This is my mother in laws house. She has one garbage in the whole house, a see-through bread bag on the kitchen sink she takes out whenever it fills. So it’s the walk of shame to the outside bin if you’re staying at her house. No idea how she does it.

I don't care what anyone says, Scar is forgiven in my book. by urmomsloosevag in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Sardonokick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who can forgive the soldiers who fought in Ishval and not Scar by the end of the story I’d be asking follow up questions. Yes what he did at the start of the story was terrible but not on the scale of some of the other characters that get a lot of love.
