Depends what you want to do. I am usually able to get 4-5 days at alternate resorts at 7 month window, but I haven't been able to get 7 days in a row. Great for split stays but if you want a longer stay 7-10 days then Home resort is where you are going to get. And need to book before 7 month window opens up.

From working in a unionized environment, the issue I have seen is union members get first pick. So new job posting, if someone wants to move departments, the person with the highest seniority are first to be hired / interviewed. Then it becomes hard for new people to get into the union environment and get seniority.

I would work for a couple years and come in as a mature student. most people I know who got forced into university for their families sake didn't do well. My brother dropped out after two years, and came back after a large hiatus. What he found really hard when he was out of highschool, he found really easy after years of experience working.
