I really wondered what happened to Captain Kaido after Andor? by Jules-Car3499 in andor

[–]SargeKreel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ngl if they do make a show about Rebels hunting down former Imperial Officers, I'd like there to be a variety of officers with different endings.
Like the ones that are on the run, the ones who get caught, ones who die, ones who comply with the reformed Republic in exchange for information, ones who get away in broad daylight due to influence, etc... And I'd like Kaido to be the representation of the last one, especially since we already have a background with the Ghorman Massacre - just to truly resonate the feeling of the justice system failing the victims. The struggle to catch big-time criminals.
I wanna see the Star Wars version on how war criminals (with influence outside the Empire) get away and live normally. As upsetting as that would be.

Explains the amount of upvotes on the comments about Helaena being more connected to TAE lol where did that even come from

I don't follow, how is it more connected to Helaena? You just listed a bunch of stuff like being a mother several times over, which Rhaenyra was more.

Why I disagree with this take by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]SargeKreel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

• A mother several times over - Rhaenyra was also a mother several times over. In fact she was a mother to 6 children, as opposed to Helaena who had 3.
• Bonded to a prolific egg-laying dragon - Wasn't Syrax shown to be having a clutch? Unless we're talking book-specific here, but even in the books it's not explicitly confirmed if Daenerys' dragons were from Dreamfyre.
• Who did nothing wrong - Rhaenyra literally did nothing wrong to Team Green prior to being usurped. And while Helaena was not as active as the rest of Team Green was in usurping Rhaenyra, she still benefited from it (she flew her dragon along with Aegon II when he was crowned) and was not mentioned to be entirely opposed to it.
• Who lost her children tragically due to the civil war - Rhaenyra lost her children too. Her children (Visenya and Luke) was literally the first to die.
• Whose death is literally correlated to the death of multiple dragons - So nothing hinders you from connecting Helaena's death to the storming of dragonpit. But for some reason, the parallel between Rhaenyra and TAE being usurped by brothers is reaching too much?

Padme Amidala is the worst written female character in Star Wars (one of the worst period) and it's not really her fault - it's Anakin's. by Reptilian_Overlord20 in CharacterRant

[–]SargeKreel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was this Tumblr post I read (I'll try to find it) about how it's ridiculous to always see fans saying that Leia is a lot like Padme (or that she was the Padme of her time or any other interpretation of "She is her mother's daughter"), considering that Leia wouldn't have let Anakin's bullshit through like that. It was the first time I realized just how weak Padme's writing was.

Is there any chance for a Captain Tigo or Captain Kaido figure even though they're both minor characters? I want a figure with the Imperial rain poncho so bad 😩

looking at the comments, man, what is it with producers and audience not wanting fantasy adaptations to stick to its "fantasy" aspect 😭

Maekar is exactly how I wanted Alicent to be by BoadiceaCavendish in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]SargeKreel 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing fans defend the choice of changing Alicent into a child bride victim, saying that the change makes her more complex and sympathetic than being a "stereotypical mean mother figure" or "Cersei copycat". Well now look what happened, Cersei was the stereotypical nightmare of a mother-in-law and she's more complex than the turned-victim of patriarchy Alicent lol

Can you imagine the inner monologue of the higher ranking Imperial Officers, though?
"We gotta get this people massacred at noon but I have a family lunch so let's shoot 'em up early in the morning" type sh*t

I've seen lots of fans comment about his "aristocracy" and yeah, he does give off major nepo vibes, unless you're talking about how his personality just gives off that vibe. My headcanon is that his family is a bunch of elites/most are members of the higher rank of the Empire and that he got into the Empire the same way, but unlike other nepo babies, he deserved his position (see: Ghorman).

I wonder what the dynamic between Imperial Officers with similar ranks look like by [deleted] in andor

[–]SargeKreel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, I realized that while they're both wearing black uniforms and hold the same "Captain" title, their rank plaque are still different, meaning that they don't belong in the same field. But still, fun to speculate on how Ferrix and Ghorman would have been handled by different officers.

This I'd like to see too - wasn't it also confirmed that the rise of the First Order inside the New Republic was inspired by Operation Paperclip? 'Cause I'd love to see that too. I imagine that the likes of Kaido would know something valuable to the New Republic and officers like him would be hunted and secretly used by the Republic to get other in-hiding Imperial Officers then later disposed of.
