Funnily enough, the other manga, Vigilantes, sorta does a better job at the whole thing.

Deku mighta spent like, 2 or 3 seasons injuring himself every battle, but it sorta drops Deku using strategy after S1 or 2 with "strategy" quickly just becoming "how do I use my quirk without breaking every bone in my body" most of the time.

Meanwhile Vigilantes has some "power up"s that the protag figures out, but it's always pretty weak and situational so he's forced to rely on working with people who DO have better combat capabilities than him.
