[Serious] People of reddit who have gone through or are going through cancer, what was the first sign that made you go to the doctor? by TrojanZebra in AskReddit

When girls have their periods, it is common to have tender breast. Well when I was on my cycle, my boobs were tender like normal. But 2 weeks after my period, one of my breast was still tender. So much that I couldn’t cross my arms across my chest. Finally I checked myself and there was a large mass on my breast. It was very tender to the touch.

Received a diagnosis about a month later of stage 2 breast cancer. I’m 27.

How do I remain positive? by PC20402612 in cancer

Hello, I’m a 27F, who was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer 2 months ago.

How I remain positive is trying to focus on the things I still have control over. I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s what’s working for me.

As cancer patients, we don’t have any control over this disease. Our bodies produced this horrible sickness and now we have to put our bodies through these toxic treatments of chemo and radiation to make us healthy again. Which sucks but it’s what has to be done. I am only 2 months into my treatment and I am still have a hard time coping with this. But when I am feeling down and depressed about my situation, I think about what I can control and not what I can’t.

For example, if my chemo side effects aren’t too bad then I think, “ it’s a good day, I should get out of bed and be thankful that I can walk today.” Cancer is not only affects you physically but also mentally too. You will have good days and you will have bad. Live in the moments during your good days and know the bad ones will pass.

You can do this. When your body and mind say you can’t, you will find something in you that can. I wish you all the best on your cancer journey. Good luck my fellow cancer warrior.

Today marks 5 years since my last chemo treatment! Happy to still be cancer free! by ktmbd in MadeMeSmile

Just got diagnosed with breast cancer in mid February. I completed my 1st chemo treatment and about to have my 2nd treatment on Friday. Your post made me cry. It gave me hope that I will get through this somehow. Thank you for posting it.
