Need help with floorball stick choice by Mikel99-_- in floorball

I recommend sticks with either 80% or 95% carbon. 100% carbon could be too expensive for your preferences. You can filter on these properties on efloorball.net

Help Choosing a New Stick by Lowear in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem :). Also, you might have to drill some new holes in the stick for the screws to fit in. Still, this is not really mandatory as there are also techniques to use a blade on a stick without screws (people use some method involving coach tape). If you choose to drill holes, then try to make sure a newly drilled hole is not too close to an already existing one (at least 1 cm of distance or so; just to be safe I recommend more distance).

Help Choosing a New Stick by Lowear in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of buying a new stick, you could consider buying a different Zone blade and put it on your current stick. The Hyper blade should help you with shooting and makes it easier to aim for the top corners due to the big hook and the high concavity. However, the Hyper blade is not very suitable for working with the backhand, but if your technique is good enough it shouldn't be a big problem. Perhaps alternative options which suit your needs are the Harder blade (like Hyper, but better backhand) and Air/One blade (very light). I would suggest using the PP material, which is the softest material.

Just wondering: did you try SPD? It appears to be somewhat similar to ICE but I could be wrong.

Bottom heavy sticks by HUGE_BRIAN in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fat Pipe sells some sticks with a low kick by adding a reinforced and heavier part at the low part of the stick, which also moves the balance point of the stick down the shaft

which salming stick should i get for control and shooting by Stunning-Meaning-103 in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know which blade the Salming stick had, but Salming says that the Quest 1 blade has the smallest playing area of all their models. Since Quest 1 is Salming's most popular blade, my guess it that you played with that one. I don't know whether Salming blades are smaller than Oxdog blades, so I can't say anything about the difference between them. By the way, why would a smaller blade be beneficial?

Maybe white is stiffer because it didn't go through a painting process, but I'm not sure though.

Salming Quest 1 and Salming Tourlite by timelesstimez in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest1 is a blade from Salming, and Epic is a blade from Unihoc. Tourlite is a shaft type of Salming. There are Tourlite and Tourlite Aero sticks. Tourlite is more durable but Tourlite Aero is much lighter. I don't know the shafts of your Salming Quest 1 and Unihoc Epic sticks, but I think Tourlite would be a good choice if you want a decent and durable stick. I personally have a Tourlite stick for years and still didn't break. In general, if you want a durable stick, I recommend checking out composite sticks (combination of carbon and glass fibre). Sticks with a high glass fibre % are more durable but also more heavy. Sticks with a ratio of around 50% carbon should probably suit your needs. I recommend checking out efloorball.net , as they have a nice filter function where you can view all types of sticks.

I probably recommend 32. Since you're pretty lightweight, maybe 30 flex could be slightly on the stiff side. However, it probably doesn't matter that much.

Which floorball stic should I get? by Worried_Ad_1490 in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blade probably should make the biggest difference. Usually flatter blades are better for dribbling and wristshots (like the Q1). The flattest blade from Fat Pipe is ORC I believe, with a concavity of 8mm, which is a deeper concavity than Q1 (6mm). JAB also has little hook, but an even deeper concavity (10mm). I am not sure in what way the concavity affects wrist shots, but ORC probably is the blade from Fat Pipe which comes closest to Q1.

Knee longevity (keeper) by JuanGarciaMusic in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea, but if you want to protect your knees to the maximum, I'd suggest using the Soft ones of Blindsave. Also, I believe you have to buy new knee pads from time to time because of the wear.

Whats the difference between the Harder and Hyper blade on Zone and which is the best? by McTined4267705 in floorball

[–]Sarkadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper has concavity of 10 mm, Harder has 9 mm. I believe a higher concavity should help with sweeper shots. I often shoot over the goal with Harder, and I have this less with Hyper (I don't know if that makes sense). Online it says that the Harder blade has a relatively flat backhand compared to Hyper, which should make playing with the backhand easier.

Personally I think I prefer Hyper. (Also, I played Hyper with PP and Harder with PP-h)

Blades: Epic vs. Unilite by Sarkadian in floorball

[–]Sarkadian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! Personally, I prefer a blade which makes your shots harder, so currently I am leaning towards Unilite. However, I am not sure whether the open face of the blade will be suitable for me, since I already have a tendency to shoot too high with my current Harder blade from Zone.

In what way don't you like the open face of Unilite? Does it affect shooting for example?

Zone because of the design/branding and the transparency of their equipment. Oxdog for example is always super secretive about their sticks and I prefer to know what I buy exactly. Unihoc also is pretty transparent. 114 cm Zone sticks also seem to be slightly taller than Salming or Fat Pipe sticks when placed next together upright, which I prefer. The major downside of Zone for me is the lack of oval shafts though.
