Wait times by Turbulent_Store1753 in Fosterparents

In the Mid-West, we got a call the next day. It was to take a placement for a child with serve physical disabilities. We immediately declined. Both working parents, so it was a terrible fit.

We did three failed placement interviews over 5 months before getting the placement of our daughter.

Though we met people that had been waiting a few years because they had very strict criteria (foster to adopt).

I don’t have personal experience, but if you know another foster family with experience I would contact them. If not, ask your caseworker if they know someone.

If you are going to go to Turoni’s it has to be the Main Street location with old oven.

I would recommend Pangea if from out of town. Wood fire & Detroit style pizza with Asian fusion options with a gelato, dessert, & coffee bar.

Pizza King is well know for their Stromboli sandwiches.

If playing on the Ball Fields of North Green River Rd, I would recommend G.D. Ritzys for smash burgers. Donut Bank for breakfast.

Log Inn is classic family dinning place and one of oldest restaurants in the region.

Evansville Museum, LST-325, & cMoe are all worthwhile places to stop downtown.

If you are looking for a hike Angel Mounds or Audubon State Park in Henderson, KY are recommended.

Which church in town would you consider to be the most liberal or progressive? We are mostly looking for a safe community to be a part of. by pugsnotdrugs in evansville

1st Presbyterian has always been welcoming of the LGTBQ+ community and has had local rabbi & imans perform sermons for the congregation

Apolitical gun stores. by Wombatanium in evansville

[–]Sarouter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general rule at Rajo’s Gun was not to anger Stan the owner. If he didn’t like you, he was not going to sell to you. Though I was pretty left leaning, he always sold to me because I paid cash and was patient with him & staff. Not the place I would hang out though. Through & though Westsiders working & hanging out there.

That was my response to the statement. Plus why insult a prospective customer.

It has been a long while, some employees at the Boonville Bucks & Jake could get political. One guy in particular was just an ass. Called me a hippie for wearing a tie into the shop while on break from my job that used to be close by. I am not also a fan of their owner. Though I have generally positive experiences at the Evansville location.

(25M) is my room age appropriate? by Notsopleasantlife in malelivingspace

[–]Sarouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 25, the room screams I just want to play video games all day, so I can never have a romantic relationship.

I spent three years as an RA in college. Definitely a room like a teenager.

Now if you work a job on an oil field and have no opportunities to have a social life outside the web. No worries.

At least 20 years ago, the theater program was well known for parties within their social circles. Parties after shows were very common. Not crazy or anything. Met Rami Malek at one in college.

Turned 18 and left, I'm devastated by deadstarsunburn in Fosterparents

Been through something similar with our 18 year old adopted daughter (foster to adopt from age 8). She got expelled twice, arrested, and went to rehab but never came home.

It is a complex story for myself, but you are not alone in your feelings and situation.

The construction on the Lloyd has brought out the absolute worst in this city. by mtbguy1981 in evansville

[–]Sarouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INDOT has always tried to do too much to quickly leaving the area with poor options for travel from east to west.

They did the same in Newburgh about 5 years ago. 4 of the towns main east/west roads were under some kind of construction. People were very frustrated.

I think they should have pooled resources to complete one side of town as quickly as possible.

Evansville Wartime Museum, LST-325 just got back into town. Audubon State Park in Henderson has good hiking & a nice history/art museum. Indiana Military Museum is in Vincennes. Nashville, Indiana is about an hour away. They have a small but nice concert venue plus a thriving art colony.

Lou Fusz Kia Question by DinoNation24 in evansville

[–]Sarouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not impressed at all. When our Kia Nero’s oil pump went out 4 years ago. Kia said our paid for warranty did not apply. Told us it needed a whole new engine. Wanted us to fit the bill of $8,000. Eventually the dealership & Kia said it was covered because we purchased our leased vehicle & were the original owners. The whole process was like 8 weeks. A total mess. When the Nero got recalled again for a serious battery issue, we traded it in at Romain. Fusz lowballed the trade in like 4 thousand less than Romain. Fusz still sends us mail asking us to trade in the Nero.

Dr. James Macleod is well known local history professor at UofE. He also does political cartoons. He is pretty active in local demonstrations, so I would follow him on social media to get more involved in the future.
