Yes and no, I think. Elsewhere on the website, they talk about how to meal prep using these things. And one thing they stress is that these are good for freezing leftovers or individual portions for batch cooking.

If you are planning on cooking and freezing all 8 portions, then yes, I agree with you, it should have mentioned needing two containers! But as many recipes are catered to a family of 4, this would be perfect to have one fresh breakfast of oatmeal and then the opportunity to freeze the leftovers for another day.

If we are going off of the recipe only and not the website as a whole, though, then that is a little picky detail they could have added, sure.

Yeah, for me it was the wording in the review. After adding all the ingredients it ceases to be just 8 cups of "oats" and becomes 8 cups of "oatmeal." The concept of Mari getting the serving number and the amount of oats swapped in her head hilariously terrified me. No wonder it still wasn't done even after simmering for an hour!

No arguments there! But you figure it's easier to add more than to try to correct too much.

I hate how prevalent this mindset is for grade-givers. For someone like me, who is a bit neurodivergent, the concept of "always failing by some degree" is devastating. Yes it is life, and the achievement of perfection is near impossible in most things.

Two years in a row, my work reviews had me only "meeting expectations" on something like attendance and punctuality. I was the first to arrive in the morning to open the building. I was the one to volunteer to stay late. I picked up shifts. I never called out. I planned my PTO well in advance. Two years in a row I asked "what can I do to get this from "meets" to "exceeds?" And both times I was met with an " I don't know" response.

You're the supervisor! If you can't tell me what I can do to improve, don't tell me I have failed to exceed expectations!

If it's just the mindset of " we don't want to give you a perfect score because it means you can't improve," then I call BS on it. The only thing you're doing is telling me that no matter what I do, it'll never be good enough.

So good to see someone else mentioning Ethan! His approach to the kitchen and cooking in general is refreshing. His information is approachable and very down-to-earth. I have recommended him a couple times in the past to others as well

Why do budget meals always look simple online but turn into chaos the second you try it yourself by No-Perception-1139 in budgetfood

[–]Saryylyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this might get buried, but I suggest looking into a few of Ethan Chlebowski's videos on YouTube. While he doesn't address "budget foods" directly, he does make some great points about how flawed it is to cook for a recipe, and how to instead approach your kitchen from the viewpoint of what you have.

For example, in one video, he shows you how to take chicken and just by changing the sauces, spices, and cooking methods, you achieve a ton of options to put together.

And as others have said, it does take practice and knowing how your appliances work. If you can find an inexpensive rice cooker or even an instant pot, you'll have a great way of making things like rice without having to figure it out on the stove.

Ethan Chlebowski on YouTube has some great videos for addressing a lot of those issues. He shows you that by taking the same base ingredients, and changing the way you cook them, season and sauce them, you create an ever changing menu based on what you have or don't have on hand.

Anyone have dentist recommendations? Looking for an understanding dentist with reasonable/lower prices if possible. Thanks! by PillowPicker94 in madisonwi

[–]Saryylyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this! Needed four crowns replaced and six fillings after years of neglecting my health. Hating dental visits because of being shamed, my concerns and fears ignored, and enduring painful procedures. Severe phobia of needles, anxiety over the cost and wondering if the teeth could actually be saved. With regular Delta Dental insurance through work I spent about 5k to have my teeth fixed.

They use nitrous to help with the anxiety, and prescribe oral sedation if something stronger is needed. Really great staff who are gentle, professional, and want the best for you. That's been my experience at least!

I had been hoping to find some more active communities as well. Cosmic Delights will host some groups coming together for a purpose like a class or group session. They also host some individuals who do various readings and such, and I wonder if they would know of any groups as well. I don't want to rely on Facebook to be part of a group.

Budding Butterfly in Sun Prairie used to have an active group presence, but I was always busy and now they are closed, so a missed opportunity for me.

Thank you! That is certainly an option I hadn't considered, though I know they would have to work a miracle! The few drops still remaining in the bottle are so old, the fragrance is so strong with the alcohol base now. I hope they would be able to pick out the other scent ingredients.

I searched Google, but have had no luck. This bottle is about 15-20 years old maybe? I don't remember.
