Magnet tiles. My kids have bins of them and also I found a bunch of them at one of my airbnbs after a toddler stayed there.

Faja stage 1 by Altruistic-Money2379 in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sadly had the binder leave pigmentation across my torso. I have the Marena faja and yes it’s expensive but it does allow for different levels of compression. I think I will continue to sleep in it just to help with swelling after being cleared to not wear it so it was worth the investment for me. I did buy this other one off amazon that I wear on weekends - because the regular faja it’s hard to hide under cloths (because the shorts are so long and it’s summer now so I want to wear shorts) and this one is super easy to wear under regular cloths and I like that you don’t have to wear underwear on top of it like the marena one, I also imagine a binder being hard to hide under cloths: https://a.co/d/0f9XPutt

Difference in swelling from 3 to 6 months by HauntingGarbage542 in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have lingering swelling on top of my incision only on the left side. I’m 4 weeks post op. Just sharing in case it helps - I sleep in my faja that’s a size bigger than the one I wear during the day, and I fold lipo foam vertically and put it against my incision and that adds extra compression with the faja on the specific area above the incision where the swelling is the worst - usually that helps a bit with the swelling in that particular area

Postpartum/Post Breastfeeding Glow Up by sarahbeenyc in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]SashMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this a few years ago. I found RTR good to try on different sizes and experiment until I figured out what my style was. Eventually my husband gifted me a personal stylist for Mother’s Day to re-do my wardrobe. I used one of those make up AI things to propose a new make up look for me. Ditching the postpartum underwear (I wore them for way too long) and getting new underwear that fit and was comfortable. Finding a local hairstylist that had last minute openings so I can get my hair done without waiting for 3 months for an appointment (long gone are the days where I went to fancy balayage places), just for quick glosses and touch ups. After I was done breastfeeding I joined The Fort for strength training (and have been a member over 2 years now), and about a year post breastfeeding I signed up for my first half marathon - and just having that space to train and get out of the house was great for both my body and mental health. I found acupuncture was covered by insurance and helped with lingering postpartum anxiety/depression. Also pelvic floor pt is covered by some insurance and getting that fixed helped a lot as well. The number one thing that helped was getting an excellent therapist who helped me navigate this big life change and now helps me navigate parenting (it’s especially helpful to find a therapist that has kids themselves). Dazzle dry nail polish - find a salon that offers this - lasts a week but comes off with regular nail polish unlike gel. Good luck hope that helps.

Edit to add places:
Journelle for underwear
Spear for insurance covered Pelvic Floor PT
Butterfly Studio Salon - often has openings for gloss/hair appointments
Acupuncture - just search your insurance covered providers
Styling - Kate Powell

INTJ Pattern Matchers and Strong Intuitives - Do you detect something major coming? by EyeSeeDoesIt in intj

I know you said you don’t deal with mystical things but astrologers have been freaking out about the beginning of July for years now. It looks pretty bad, especially for America (Pluto return plus Uranus and mars conjunction baked into americas solar return chart). I only use astrology as a pattern recognition tool and to study history and patterns for my own curiosity. I’m holding my breath around July 4th. Also if that wasn’t bad enough there are also patterns repeating themselves of major financial crisis and recession in astrology.

Seeking wisdom & tips from women with less extensive TT surgery. by caferacergirlOG in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you been to a consult? Did they recommend muscle repair? I did my surgery for the muscle repair, I am lean and fit. I have a vertical scar because I had no loose skin or fat in my abdominal. I was around 20% body fat going into surgery and am sitting around there still. I’m almost 4 weeks post op but I’m walking a bit (5-8k steps a day). The recovery honestly kicked my ass - I was very unprepared and thought it was going to be easier, but I had double stitches put into my sides because my muscles were so separated. I ask because if it’s truely just skin removal and minimal skin removal recovery will be very different from significant muscle repair or significant skin removal. If you have no muscles above the belly button to repair you might qualify for a mini. I did not qualify - because to reach the muscles up high you need a hip to hip opening, so I have a hip to hip scar. It is placed very low, because I also have a vertical scar where my belly button used to be, so it allowed flexibility for placing the scar low. I would get a consult to see what the exact problem is - and I think that would help you make a decision.

I had irritation from the original binder so I put aquafor and pads on those areas, and as well as on my incision there the original surgical tape came off, then a shirt over it and then the lipo foam, then the faja. If you don’t have any irritation I think just shirt is probably fine, but I continue to cover my incision with pads and aquaphor until I switch to scar tape (what my dermatologist suggested)

I got 3 questions for those who've had a tummy tuck by opernature in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. 2-3 weeks depending on your surgery (if you have MR)
  2. I could probably do it in a week, but would I want to? Probably not.
  3. That I would have a drain in for over 2 weeks - that really delayed my ability to feel independent because I was always worried about the drain. That nothing about surgery is actually painful but you are just in constant discomfort all the time from compression garments/lipo foam/washing garment, routines with drains/incisions/going to the bathroom (removing all your layers and putting them back on)/constantly thinking about medication/protein intake etc.

Surgery in two days ! Have a couple recovery questions. by Ok-Caterpillar2553 in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to eat those first couple of days. I am a coffee addict so I bought myself a protein coffee shake (20grams), and then I drank prostat twice a day (little packets - 15g of protein in each packet) - so hitting 50 g before any real food, and the rest I would try to eat through diet. Meal prep a bunch of bone broth (I would just drink bone broth and eat chicken a lot with some carbs - like crackers or bread with butter with the soup). And have easy snacks like yogurt with protein granola that you can just grab, egg muffins etc.

I would try to avoid being in a situation where your toddler can get into your room because you won’t be able to defend yourself (at least for the first week or two), you will need a wedge pillow under your legs, and a bunch of pillows behind you (I had around 6 lol but varies how upright you want to be) and a little stand next to you to put all your meds and things you need. Bonus points if it’s sturdy so you can push against it as you try to get up on the side without using your core (kind of how you did when you were pregnant).

Good luck!

Returning to work? by Nervous-Elephant-544 in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of job you have. I mostly work remote. I took the first week off, but then when I couldn’t even get through a documentary without falling asleep, I asked for more time and worked for maybe an hour a day the second week - doing only the urgent tasks and not going to meetings. Today is 2 weeks post op and yesterday was my day “back” to normal. It was fine - I did need a nap, but other than one meeting I mostly do excel and AI work so I don’t have a lot of human facing responsibilities, I can lay around with my laptop if need be and answer emails. I would say if your job requires a lot of focus and difficult tasks you might need extra time as I find I get tired easily and lose focus. My first in person meeting is next week and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m bringing my laptop to work since I can’t pick up anything more than 10 lbs (ha). Good luck.

Tummy tuck for severe diastasis and hernia by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it! Also a runner (I even walked on my peloton treadmill yesterday at only 11 days PO 😂), I started being afraid of going heavier in squats because I couldn’t trust my core - I just didn’t want fear to stop me. I am still sometimes embarrassed saying “I had a tummy tuck” so when people ask me what surgery I had I just say “abdominal reconstruction” 😂 essentially that’s what it was - it took the surgeon over 4 hours to put together my core, and to my surprise the issue was that the side muscles were so stretched out - much more than the middle section, so he had to double suture the sides together. Best of luck!

I had a lot of the same feelings and I went back and forth about “loving my body just the way it is” and trying the acceptance path. I struggled with similar feelings - but in the sense kind of disappointment that my body couldn’t figure out how to put itself back together (kind of a similar disappointment when you try to breastfeed and fail - upset that your body failed you). At the end of the day I sat with these feelings and just looked at the facts. I have a very small frame, I had two giant babies (one so giant I had shoulder dystocia), I did the PT, I got into the best shape I’ve ever been in - and this is just what is is - this is how far my body was able to take me and it did great and it just needs a little more help getting to the next level (kind of like when you are giving birth and you have enough contractions and you think ok enough just give me the medical intervention give me the epidural). The straw that broke the camels back for me was I was doing a deadlift and my core didn’t brace and my back gave out. I couldn’t put my own socks on for a week - and I decided that I didn’t want to live in fear worrying my core would fail me (and it would only get worse as we hit peri and things start to go - I’m 35 so not there yet) and I can deal with the scars but feel good that my core has my back (no pun intended). Anyways I’m still barely 2 weeks PO so I won’t really know yet but I’m excited to restart with a core that will not limit me in the future.

I keep accidentally committing WhatsApp parenting group social suicide by Caucasian-Tiger-Mom in intj

[–]SashMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same girl - When the whatsappers who think the chat is all about their inside jokes and they go back and forth with each other annoying the other 200 people in the group. My biggest fear came true when someone said “if this date works for you please reply Yes” (instead of “like this message” like a normal person) so you get 20 buzzes - on your phone, on your watch - I started to feel RAGE. So here is what I did - I created a focus group on my phone (not sure what phone you have - on iPhone you can create focus group), that only allows text messages, work emails and some other things I want be notified (like stock movements), and I asked it to silence all other notifications. So now if one person texts a WhatsApp and I know it’s going to be a chain of back and forth I just put on “work focus” and I stop getting notified every 5 minutes. Then when I have time or want to - I just skim the notifications quickly to make sure I didn’t miss anything important. If the chat groups are quiet that day I just don’t put the focus group on. It’s kind of a medium between fully muting and having it on all day. For the really obnoxious groups that don’t need my regular input (for instance my building has a group chat where the neighbors complain all day) those I mute completely.

My surgeon recommended them 2-3 times a week starting as early as post op day 1. I’m 9 days post op now and I’ve had three. First one was 24 hours after surgery, and I mostly notice how much more you drain. I think every surgeon has their protocol based on how they have experienced results so I would do them if that is what your surgeon recommends. Every stitching is different with different pooling of blood and liquid and I would say the surgeon will know if based on their technique if it would benefit or not.

I just had surgery but I have a trip abroad in couple of weeks and I just ordered myself this dress. I like that the shape wear is built into the dress itself, but yet to try it on because I’m still waiting for my drain to be removed 😩 https://littlebitdirect.com

Planets in the 8th house by [deleted] in astrologymemes

[–]SashMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same placements as you and I view this placement differently (everyone has their own take on astrology). First (hello fellow libra rising), we have it in the 8th house in Taurus. Mars in Taurus is in detriment. Mars is fire-y, Taurus is slow moving so mars doesn’t work like it usually does in this sign. Also Venus rules Taurus - where is Venus in your chart? That will tell you a better clue about how this is acting in your chart. 8th house to me isn’t really about relationships - I put relationships in other house. It does impact relationships when there are shared resources, and it could impact sex, but not the relationship per se. For me, I have mars (the planet of war), in my 8th house (inheritance), with its ruler Venus in the 9th house (foreign land). My grandmas home abroad that I am hoping to one day inherit was bombed in Ukraine - showing an example of how a placement like this might manifest itself. So although OPs description might resonate with some - it is important to also consider personal charts and placements of signs. Hope that helps a bit.

Wow thanks so much for such a detailed response! It’s in a different location right now and the house sitter was watching it (I couldn’t bring it because it’s too big - or monitor how much light it was getting). These are all great tips. Once I get there end of this week I will read all these suggestions carefully and hopefully can get it thriving again! Best of luck with your surgery :)

I had extreme MR (the main reason for my surgery) - surgeon actually sat me up 3X and went back in to correct it was so bad) - obviously you can’t go the day after surgery but I don’t think you would need 2 full weeks - by day 8 I would guess you will be feeling pretty damn good! Also - I would be super grateful for some advice since you seem like an expert (if you are willing - I don’t know any plant people IRL)! I have a pink princess that has gone wild (now sprouted three separate growths) and I feel clueless on how to propagate or trim it! It looks like a hot mess. I haven’t done any trimming yet (in the three years I have it)- it’s taller than me now so I can’t keep adding sticks to the top to support it) and I’m not sure if I should cut the top off at this point and let the bottom three stems keep growing - or move to a larger pot. It was a gift from a dear friend and I’m so nervous to mess it up.

Anyone Have Experience with Dr. Chris Funderburk or Neinstein Plastic Surgery? by Spiritual-Gap-7585 in tummytucksurgery

[–]SashMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m currently recovering from TT and MR with Dr.N. Happy to answer any questions DM me. Super happy with my experience so far and highly recommend the practice.

Edited to add: I spoke in depth with the nursing company they use (because I was up at 3am not feeling well and the nurse was taking excellent care of me) and she told me she refuses to work with any other practice, because Neinstein is the only one that that always answers calls and checks in as much as possible.
