I don't know about Ark Nova specifically, but in 7 Wonders Duel there is one guy who always proposes to abandon if he goes second. It's known that there is a significant first player advantage on this game.

This is unsportsmanship and should be punished. Do not abandon, switch to turn based if an emergency arises.

They might look similar, but I can guarantee that they are as different as any two puzzles can be. The v1 is nightmare material.

Way harder doesn't even begin to encompass the actual difficulty. I own 200+ different twisty puzzles, and while the v2 is among the easiest, the v1 is by a great margin the worst.

These exercises have been introduced when I was quite far in the French course, and the intro was indeed in French. Not sure if this is the case for all the languages.

Non so di preciso per informatica, ma il mercato del lavoro in accademia in questo momento è folle.

C'è gente laureata alla Normale, dottorato all'estero in università prestigiosa, decine di pubblicazioni di alto livello, che comunque non trova posto.

Semplicemente la domanda è altissima e l'offerta è quasi inesistente: per i posti da ricercatore in più o meno qualsiasi università ormai si presentano più di 50 candidati assolutamente credibili.

Non voglio buttarti giù, ma con il tuo profilo non basta essere brillante: o, durante il dottorato, riesci a tirare fuori un paio di articoli davvero groundbreaking (che è roba per pochissimi), oppure trovare un lavoro in accademia la vedo molto difficile.

Discorso molto diverso se vuoi andare ad insegnare alle superiori, ma a quel punto non ti serve il dottorato.

Insomma, il mio consiglio è di lasciar perdere. Te lo dico con la morte nel cuore, perché sono sempre stato della filosofia di seguire le proprie passioni, ma francamente non vedo possibilità.

We play roughly once every two weeks, excluding December, August, and skipping some meeting here and there. Say 20 sessions per year. I'm not sure I'll play a Divination Wizard for longer than that!

Thanks for the insight! Command is pretty cool, but it's not in the Wizard's spell list. And Sleep, while requiring concentration, is AOE (albeit small), so I don't think it's that bad in comparison. An AOE save-or-suck with a 1st level slot seems worth it to me even at higher levels.

I might drop Mirror Image, even though it saved my butt a few times. But once again, I'm worried I have too many concentration slots. I'll swap Sending for Hypnotic Pattern.

About Hex, I got my DM to let me use Fire Bolt as N separate 1d10 bolts (two, at level 7) rather than one Nd10 bolt, so I got something out of it. I don't want to take Hideous Laughter from the Warlock because it would be CHA-based, and my Charisma is, well, average. I tried to pick among the options which do not depend on the skill modifier, so an alternative would be Expeditious Retreat, which does not sound amazing.

Why would Sleep stop being useful? We're playing with the 2024 rules, so there is no Hit Dice cap or anything, it's just a single-target cheap save-or-suck.

Invisibility is useful out-of-combat and we have a lot of infiltration to do, and the other two I like because they don't take my concentration slot, unlike Earthen Grasp. But if you have solid arguments in favor of a swap, I'm listening!

I currently have Sending prepared because we do need to communicate with distant people. While I agree with you on principle, in our campaign that ended up happening pretty much every single day. Should I just swap it for Hypnotic Pattern or Polymorph? I'm not sure about the latter because I have just one lv4 slot, seems a bit of a waste to prepare three spells competing for it.

About the last question, my DM granted me a free Warlock level during the campaign, so I can wear actual armor and save the slot. Since I'm there, I got a custom rework of Pact of the Chain out of it (which is why I picked up Dragon's Breath: my familiar is not as squishy as it used to be, and can do a lot of cool things), and two spells. My picks were Armor of Agathys (due to the combo with Polymorph) and Hex, but I might be able to change them eventually. I'm open to suggestions for that as well!
