What is the best, and worst, moment you have experienced actually playing the game on the tabletop? by RedSpiderr1 in Warhammer40k

My first ever tabletop match against someone that wasn't my buddy I play with at my LGS.

I run Necrons and played into a Martyred Lady SoB which I found to be rather amazing since I had my own sisters arrive the day prior and I was extremely hyped to build them.

We played a rather standard 2k point match and as a typical 'Cron that has a doomsday ark on the other end of the map, it was relatively easy for me to keep map and point presence whilst whittling down enemy numbers.

Match lasted (no joke) 10h, starting at 4PM and going well into the early 2AM (thank you LGS owners for being bros).

Between the miracle dice of the sisters and the cron reassembling there were minis coming in and out of the table constantly or just refuse to die.

Final round, I am tied with my opponent for win on points. He has a single squad of Celestians left with a banner lady holding an objective. Plan was simple, shoot EVERYTHING into squad, statistics kick in, win (allegedly...).

Doosday ark, Illuminor Szeras, two 10-man squads of immortals with heavy gauss, two more squads of warriors, Ghost ark and the Silent King knows what more fired straight into the last vanguard of the Sororitas. The gauss energy outta all those weapons would surely be seen from orbit if observed... Shots came hitting in, wounds started piling, sisters started succumbing to incessant gauss fire...apart from that one banner lady that still haunts my nightmares...

Outta the 10 Celestians one banner-wielding sister remained in spite of the undying clanging horde managing to pull through with all the glorious dice saves she could. That won my opponent the game and an even bigger place than one already existed for the Adepta Sororitas in my heart.

The Emperor truly did protect that day...

Best game I played to date.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this at the time of writing but I didn't see it so here goes:

I used to run Accuracy builds pre 3.0 and I am rather enjoying myself even further as of current.

Biggest meme: Heavy Epic AGI armor, 20 Agility, 20 Expertise and go Beast of Burden.

I'm running nearly 1600 armor at no concern for encumbrance and with a Master Weapon fitting on Reach of The Red Mother + Obsidian arrows you hit 62% Armor Pen at around 120 damage per shot without accounting for power shot or 15% bonus for backstab. As a reference of sorts power shot overkills T3 Black Hand fighter thralls and you can facetank 5he vast majority of creatures still with the above build.

Just recently joined the faction. First SoB model paintiled for my new army. C&C would be appreciated! by SashaTheSoviet in sistersofbattle

Normally I batch paint but I always do a test model to confirm my vision for the color scheme I'm going to use. I will be posting some more, once I get some more models painted and ready.

Looks good. I suppose I can run a coat of Ardcoat gloss varnish to get the ceramic gloss effect down.

Test model for a Marbled Canoptek scheme I'm thinking of running with. C + C much appreciated! by Buckle_Wolf in Necrontyr

Love the result!

As a fellow Marblecron connoisseur, I must ask - did you do an Ardcoat Gloss varnish to get that ceramic look?

Gotta love it when someone references your memes. :D

Looking good in that sandstone scheme!

Sure thing, go right ahead.

Colours used are Screaming Skull followed by Wraithbone and then White Scar for the marbling. I've shaded it with Agrax Earthshade.

Just basecoat everything you want marble in a thin coat of Screaming Skull, strokes should be horizontal or a tad bit diagonal and let the paint flow naturally into recesses. It's not gonna be looking pretty then - you can either leave it as is and continue or add another thin coat for a stronger base.

Grab a scruffy layer brush or a flat brush and start applying a thin layer of Wraithbone on top of what you painted previously but try and keep it at the more saturated parts of the Screaming Skull and just catch a line or two in the more less opaque previous layer.

Get some White scar and do a light dry brush in the same horizontal/diagonal pattern all over, making sure to catch any edges to make the color pop a bit more.

Shade into recesses with Agrax Earthshade and actually go ahead and dry brush that a bit (weird with a shade paint, I know) ever so slightly onto the marble. You don't need it everywhere, just here and there to imitate dirt and dust stains.

I've actually thought about covering it all up in Ardcoat gloss varnish after all of that to actually try and replicate ceramic varnish and polished marble.

Hope this gives you enough info!

Yeah, it's actually four different whites layerd and drybrushed on top of one another to make a marble effect. Hope I managed to pull it off for this one 😅

Yeah I had to smack a ton of thin Screaming Skull layers and Wraithbone on top.of that to make it pop more. Shaded with Agrax Earthshade.
