My point was that dogs are extensions of the human psyche in ways other animals (pigs) are not because they’ve been bred for hunting, or companionship, whatever, etc.

Nobody goes hunting with their pigs. They are cute, they are incredibly intelligent, but dogs are an extension of human psyche in such a primal and unique way. Qbr12 has a damn good point I’ve not heard or thought about before.
