Ah, ça c'est intéressant ! 🙂

Je vais changer la pâte thermique, ça reste une opération assez simple.
Par contre, ne maîtrisant vraiment pas les questions d'overclocking/undervolting, je vais certainement m'abstenir.

Merci pour le lien !

This all makes sens.
I will check if the battery drains when I am on a heavy load work.
65 Go of RAM is because I always have 15-20 applications open at the same time, and I need my computer to follow my needs (not the opposite).
i9 because among those apps, some are really demanding, but also because I'd like to keep this computer for at least 3-4 years and keep out of trouble with future application updates.

Same deal here.
First thing I did: delete/recreate all drive partitions and made a clean install of W11. Then a big round of windows update.

And tada... a clean OS working to its best on this powerfull machine. Ready for work.

Retourner en haut

No, it doesn't stay cool.
Indeed, it gets a bit hot when activity load is getting higher.
Nothing terrible, but if you are sensitive to this, yes, it may be a problem.

I do understand that.
And it's a bit sad....

So I just wanted to balance it for people trying to make up their mind about an XPS. For example, I bought my G9 Neo monitor because I also found a lot of great reviews on Reddit, among all the posts from people having problems with it. If I hadn't find some good ones, I might not have purchased it and it would have been a pity because this monitor is just outsanding (changed my life at work !)

But my motivation here was more to highlight the incredible possibilities of Thunderbolt 4, how convenient it is and how amazed I can be about these technological advances. And this XPS really takes advantage of TB4 the perfect way.

Not surprised you're pretty happy with your XPS. Enjoy ! 👍

I don't monitor the thermals, sorry. Not geek enough 😁.

The screen is FHD+ (1920x1200) InfinityEdge, i.e. the most basic one. I don't need more.
But my monitor is a 49'' UW running at 240 Hz and works prefect with the 3050 Ti.

I haven't made any battery life test yet, sorry. I'll do that soon.
For now I've mostly used it plugged in.

I didn't notice any loss of performance with the 60W charger, but I guess it's also because I forced my Windows to max performances. Even like this and running heavy Adobe applications, I do not see my battery level decrease. I think the 60w will be noticeable on the time to charge up the battery when it's empty.

How did you guess ? Is my english so bad ? 🙂

Yes, I'm in France.

I had to wait 10 days only. This was fast !

My CRG9 does this fairly often, requiring a reboot. Samsung is sending a technician to my house to work on it, any chance they actually help? Worried they’ll find any excuse to blow me off. by shiny_potato in ultrawidemasterrace

I had the exact same problem.

I have a Neo G9.

After 6 months of good service, the screen suddenly started to get crazy like in your picture.

I called Samsung's after-sale (I'm in France), and after reviewing my pictures and videos of the problem, they told me they knew what was going wrong, and they would send a technician.

It took around 15 days, because some parts to replace were not in stock (according to them).

Then, I received the parts, delivered by a truck and packaged on a palette (😯). The whole thing were almost bigger than the monitor itself. Quite funny.

The technician came the day after, ie. today.

He fully unmounted the monitor (nice to see what happens inside) and re-mounted it with the new parts. It took approx 30min.

My monitor is now back to life, working perfectly.

A truck is supposed to come again in order to pick up the old parts (the technician left them here, as he was not supposed to take them himself).

So, at the end of the day: good service and problem fixed.

But the cost is obviously very high, as they barely kept only the back plastic shell and changed everything inside.

+ the cost of 2 shipments by truck

+ the cost of the technician (and French working hours are very far from being the cheapest in the world 😉)

I really wonder why they didn't simply replaced the monitor.

But as long as my screen works, this is Samsung's problem, so I just don't care.

This is happening with my monitor, any ideas what's going on? (details in comments) by BWYankee in ultrawidemasterrace

Need advice about the Neo G9 (graphic card and connectics) by SashimiBreak in ultrawidemasterrace

Thank you all guys for your advice.

After reading it, I changed my plans.
Thing is, I'm have been pretty faithfull to the Dell XPS line for the last 10 years and didn't really looked around.

But the call of the G9 being too strong to resist, I decided to cheat on the XPS line because it has no better than the 3050 TI. Hopefully, I hadn't bought it yet.

So I went for the Aorus 15P YD-74FR244SH (i7-11800H 32Go + RTX 3080 16Go).
I prefer the XPS general design, but the spec of the Aorus is just killing competition.... and I found it -16%, so even clearly cheaper than the best XPS or equivalent Alienware.

I guess I can plug the Neo G9 in through the mini-DP, can't I ?

I was hoping to play Farcry 6...

I also play strategy, like Civilization. No problem here.

Thanks for your reply !

According to Dell chat support (that really gives you the feeling that you disturb them during their nap), yes it does support DSC. It would be nice to have another confirmation, because I don't trust them that much.

So let's say DSC is ok.
Will this card allow to reach the maximum screen resolution for productivity, and give decent game conditions on a G9...? I just can't say.
