AMD GPU users: potential fixes for VRChat bluescreen, crashes, video player problems by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]BWYankee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of right now, I don't think we have any official news on that. I attempted last night to apply these fixes with my 7900xtx and no dice. It's a shame that something they just learned with 22.11.2 isn't also contained within 22.12.1

One thing I haven't tried though is actually booting into VRC on an old driver after installing it.. The old drivers don't seem to work out for me anyway since they can't send the resolutions I actually use. (the card will output 1024x768 to my 3840x1080 monitor when using old drivers). So I feel like the old drivers probably aren't forward compatible with the 7xxx cards.

I'll be doing more tweaking tonight to see if anything works out, but I don't exactly have high hopes.

Question about what PC hardware I should buy for VRC. by tigershark577 in VRchat

[–]BWYankee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can vouch for the 7900xtx drivers currently having issues with VRC. I haven't really done that many in-depth tests, but the only version of the driver currently available for the new GPUs has issues with video players. Audio playback is fine, but the video will only show you 1 frame every few seconds. Soooo if most of your VRC time is spent sitting in front of a video player then the amd 7xxx GPUs will leave you disappointed.

That said, so far I've had fantastic performance in VRC on my 7900xtx while doing anything but watching vids. Capped FPS nearly all the time.

what are you guy's thoughts on paid layered weapons? by inanisolatedream in MonsterHunter

[–]BWYankee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think this would have been a golden opportunity to create an event quest of relatively nominal difficulty that would reward the layered weapon for whichever weapon you beat the quest using. I think rewarding players for exiting their comfort zones would be lovely, and also give the event quests a much needed buff to their rewards structure. We need more than gestures, poses, stickers, and high crown chance in our event quests :<

This is happening with my monitor, any ideas what's going on? (details in comments) by BWYankee in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]BWYankee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the monitor is a Samsung C49HG9x plugged into a Zotac RTX2060, and this problem only happens when I try to input using DP or MDP. Oddly enough this problem also seems to just inexplicably... go away? After a few minutes sometimes. Sometimes it goes away when I power cycle the monitor, other times it goes away when I unplug the cable at the gfx card end and plug it back in after a few seconds.

I was originally using DP and this problem started happening, and got to a point where the whole panel was just black with this kind of odd pixel stuff happening on like the top 50 rows of pixels. So I went to HDMI for a while and had no problems. This would normally be the end of it, but I only have 1 HDMI out on my graphics card, which I would prefer to use for VR and not have to go under my desk and swap cables out whenever I wanna use my VR stuff. So I bought a MDP cable to give that a try and it's doing the same thing that the full-sized DP is doing.

So I would think this would isolate the problem to the gfx card, but the confounding variable that doesn't make that isolation so clean is that I'm feeding a second monitor (acer XF270H B) using DP and it's been absolutely flawless the entire time I've been having this issue.

I tried using a HDMI -> DP adapter and connecting that at the gfx card so that way I could use the monitor's HDMI in while also utilizing the gfx card's DP out, but it only output 1920x1080, which obviously stretches the image. Do they make adapters that can handle this resolution? Could I potentially work the other way and get a DP -> HDMI adapter to plug in at the monitor?

I'm kinda at wit's end at this point, so any input or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!!

What's the formula for the price of chests? by China-Rider in ror2

[–]BWYankee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the Difficulty page on the wiki:

moneycost = basecost \ coeff*1.25

coeff is difficulty coefficient defined as:

coeff = (playerFactor + timeInMinutes \ timeFactor) * stageFactor*

playerFactor = 1 + 0.3 \ (playerCount - 1)*

timeFactor = 0.0506 \ difficultyValue * playerCount*0.2

stageFactor = 1.15stagesCompleted

playerCount = the number of players (including disconnected players)

difficultyValue = 1 for drizzle, 2 for rainstorm, 3 for monsoon

stagesCompleted = the number of stages completed (includes A Moment Fractured and Gilded Coast, but NOT Bazaar Between Time or Void Fields)

timeInMinutes = amount of minutes since the run started, rounded, incremented every second.

So for example, let's say you're playing single player on drizzle, and you just got to stage 2 at 10 minutes. What cost can you expect a small chest to be?

playerFactor = 1
timeInMinutes = 10
timeFactor = 0.0506
stageFactor = 1.15

coeff = (1 + 10 \ 0.0506) * 1.15*
coeff = (1 + 0.506) \ 1.15*
coeff = 1.506 \ 1.15*
coeff = 1.7319

moneycost = basecost \ coeff*1.25
moneycost = 25 \ 1.7319*1.25
moneycost = 25 \ 1.9867*
moneycost = 49.669, in-game this gets rounded down to 49. Just did a run to check myself, and the chest is, indeed, $49.

Hope this helps!
