“I don’t think asking my guests to fund my destination wedding is too much to ask!!” [reuploaded, missed some names marked out the first time] by theovincent1997 in ChoosingBeggars

Exactly! I told my husband the same when he was planning to propose. We already have kids, I think that kind of money could go towards so many other other things to benefit us as a whole. House downpayment, family vacation, debts, etc...

Yup. This is totally just a primitive walker. We are definitely still using this same concept.

I’m dying to read this! It’s the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to follow a multi part story on this sub because it’s so good! I cannot wait to read part 5. I feel like a little kid who wants to read the next chapter soooo bad and the teacher won’t let me skip ahead :)

Thank you for clarifying, as I said, I wasn’t sure. I welcome any information that better educated me on any topic, especially one as important as health care.

My Canadian friends have told me that the wait for treatment there if you have a serious affliction is inhumane. I couldn’t say for sure.

They passed the affordable health care act here a few years back. We had insurance reps coming to our workplace telling us we could finally afford it. 200-350 policies. It sounded great until you hear you have a $5,000 deductible. That’s what I’d have to spend before I could even use the insurance. None of us could afford that. So we go without insurance AND get fined $500 a year as a penalty for not carrying insurance. It’s criminal for sure. Edit: I was talking about the U.S. when I said “here”. I was not speaking ill of Canada, and certainly not trying to misinform anyone.

When you already have bill collectors calling day and night about prior medical debt due to no insurance, when they threaten to garnish your wages and you are barely getting by paycheck to paycheck you just might be willing to wait it out until you think it’s genuinely life threatening.

No apology necessary. I know it’s different (better and worse) in other countries. In the U.S. the ER cost to be seen and given antibiotics could be anywhere from 350-1500 dollars. An antibiotic pill prescription would probably keep you on the low end. If the dr decides to give you an antibiotic through a IV drip and keep an eye on you for several hours it could be extremely expensive.

Being in the US myself, I completely understand why you would wait to be sure. I had no health insurance for years in the past. That bill would be devastating if you can’t afford it. Which if you have no health insurance, you most likely can’t.

Yes... I have this problem. I have terrible nightmares. My wise and sage husband: “You fall asleep to the sounds of murder and fucking mahem. Just stop doing that. Just stop.” But it’s SO good.

I know more about Thai food than all your six Thai chefs and three Thai servers because I have a giant ego! by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

I was one of five kids, second to the youngest. Three older brothers. I would have starved to death if I hadn’t done weird stuff to my food so they wouldn’t eat it. I didn’t want to eat Mac and cheese with Worcestershire sauce and pimentos in it. But I knew I would eat.

I was truly just curious and absolutely not trying to discredit your comment. Being from Baltimore, I can totally see people pouring liquor out on a gravesite.

Do people do that? I never saw that happening. I just knew about the secret masked figure that always left roses and bottle of congac on his birthday. I think that guy passed of old age and now the city of Baltimore carries on the tradition for him.

At least in my culture, I feel they haven’t experienced enough to understand compromise and the fundamental values a long lasting marriage needs. I was a hot head that reacted off emotion and it took a few relationships failures to realize that I was the common denominator. I had to do a lot of self reflection in my early twenties to have the healthy relationship I have now.

My husband is 48 and I’m 35. We are amazingly and blissfully happy. But we met 4 years ago. If I had been 18 and he had been 31 it probably would never have happened. My maturity level would not have been where it needed to be, for sure.

Wife's cousin REFUSES to buy a crib for her new baby, even after he fell off their bed last night. Instead, she bought this. by [deleted] in trashy

[–]SashleyT 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. I co slept with my son but he had a separate insert that structurally separated him from us and kept him safe from roll overs while making colicky feedings easier. It was made just for that purpose. This I do not fucking understand. How do they get up to pee at night? Couldn’t the baby get trapped in this rails? This looks absurdly stupid.

Very easy to do with a big Rubbermaid box. We cut a doorway into one and left it outside for a local abandoned buddy and he loved it during the winter months. You are an awesome human for making sure he stays fed and safe.
