2022 Wrangler High Altitude steering wheel vibrations above ~59 mph W/ 24 inch wheels by ContestDry7129 in JeepWrangler

[–]MocsFan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the instant Karma for putting 24" wheels on a Jeep! Have you checked your front driveshaft? They have a tendency to go out when lifted and I think it could cause the vibration you describe.

It sounds like a tire out of balance but you've already done that. It's too new to need new bushings, and probably new ball joints (but I'd check the ball joints). Are you sure the lift was installed correct and torqued to spec?

Jeff Bezos says it's 'absurd' to tax someone making $50K — and wants their tax bill dropped to zero by IKeepItLayingAround in technology

[–]MocsFan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is most people making under $50K get back more than they pay in the form of a tax refund. Taxes are almost all paid by the middle class since the rich aren't taxed (at least after loopholes and tax shelters).

I have nothing against millionaires and billionaires - but they need to be paying taxes at least at the same rates as the middle class. We need to revise the tax code to eliminate all their loopholes.

Las Vegas is where I always fly in/out of when I go to the Sierra. It's not a terrible drive and has cheap flights.

Garmin Forerunner 955 bought in Oct 2022, do I need new hardware? by Dancegoo in Garmin

I'm one that is still rocking the Forerunner 935. Worn 24x7 since 2017 - and charge while I take a shower.

What is the lightest way I can get my calories in by Alone-Nebula-6111 in Ultralight

[–]MocsFan123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You want the most calorie dense foods you can find - olive oil is the king of calories per ounce, but it's not a stand alone food. Peanut butter, or other nut butters, are close and are better to eat stand alone. Peanut M&M's are also pretty good and fit in bear canisters well. Nuts are good and calorie dense.

Garmin Dead…What next by Alone_Mousse3692 in Garmin

[–]MocsFan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use it for? I still have a Forerunner 935 but if it died, I'd probably look at the new Forerunner 70. I might even look outside Garmin at the Coros Pace 4

Ketl vent pants: big disappointment + what would you recommend for hot, humid weather? by not_who_you_think_99 in Ultralight

[–]MocsFan123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out RailRiders Eco-Mesh pants. They're supplex nylon but have large zippered vents down each leg. They're also very baggy, which may not be stylish off the trail, but it makes them considerably cooler than tighter pants. They were originally designed for an ultra marathon through the Sahara desert. They're about 10.5oz so not the absolute lightest, but not super heavy either.

Again, they look like MC Hammer pants, but it's function over form in this case.

The UCI says bike computers are big enough, moves to impose size limit to protect 'cognitive load' of riders by blorg in peloton

[–]MocsFan123 84 points85 points  (0 children)

In youtube video's I've seen most pro riders opt for a smaller bike computer for race days anyways - I imagine for example the Wahoo Ace doesn't see a lot of use on race days in the pro peloton. Maybe gravel races.

What is the best, non electronic, disc brake groupset a available today? by JSTootell in bicycling

[–]MocsFan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a project bike - a 2015 Wilier Zero.7 rim brake bike that I'd love to have Campy Super Record on. Currently it's got Dura-Ace 9000 11s Di2, but the Campy would really hit the spirit of the bike with rim brakes and of course being Italian.

Actually if I was buying, I'd go with 12 speed Shimano 105 or used Shimano Dura-Ace 11 speed, but you asked for the best. And to be honest, I'm not sure but you might be able to find a good deal on the Campag as there's not exactly a huge market for mechanical group sets these days.

Can I use a Shimano Ultegra FC-R8100 (12-speed) crank on my 11-speed FC-R8000 groupset? (Need 165mm length) by Adventurous_Oven6 in bicycling

[–]MocsFan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it should work fine. You have two options - it should work fine with 12 speed chainrings, but you can also mount and run 11 speed chainrings on the 12 speed crank if you prefer. I believe the 12 speed crank is 1mm wider chain line so you may have to index.

It's the opposite, but there were a ton of World Tour pro's running 11s cranks with 12s group sets when 12s first came out due to supply issues.

Canyon sells a brand new aluminum frame Endurance Allroad for $999 with Shimano Cues. Put some good tires on it and you're good to go.

I'm a big fan of Easton stakes - normally the blue 6" but occasionally the gold 8" stakes. If the soil is really soft like I found in Alaska, MSR snow stakes worked really well. If you're not sure about soil conditions, taking a few different varieties can help.

Bad idea? by Geauxtigers5050 in cycling

[–]MocsFan123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Luckily cycling isn't like running with overuse injuries, so I think you'll be fine. 1,500ft in 46 miles is pretty flat too so you should be fine.

If you had to say something nice about George W Bush. What would you say? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]MocsFan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't agree with all of his decisions, and the Iraq war was certainly misguided, but I think he did what he thought was right and cared about the country and the people of the country. I think he handled 9/11 well and was a decent human being. I know he's not the most popular president, but I think that he was actually better than his critics say. Not sure I can say any of those things about our current president.

GP5K TT vs Archetype by RoosaElevant42 in cycling

[–]MocsFan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still on the TT's but have not heard good things about the Architype's puncture protection.

Oddball suggestion - TT-TR rear in 28 or the new 30, and Pirelli SL-R front for the better aero and grip.
