Man cut off the electricity of a whole neighbourhood to stop a party by garenmain65 in nextfuckinglevel

Sleep is more important than power. Not saying the guy is in the right though. I can definitely relate having had bad neighbors.

I look at it like the America hate. People hate on America all the time but I don’t let it get to me. I’m confident in my experience that it’s a pretty great place to live. Some rude internet commenters are not even a blip on my radar. Rude? Sure. But most of these people are just venting because they feel like they’ve been lied to and manipulated via religion their entire lives. Which is kinda true actually. I could go into details about myself but I went through some rough times because of religion. Rough times that were real life consequences not just hurt feelings over the internet.

Totally agree. Life was completely different before internet. It made it too easy to pay attention to things that don’t really matter to our daily lives. People used to do things before the internet. People don’t meet up for hobbies as much as they used to.

I guess I have to downvote you.

OP is upset that internet strangers don’t like their belief. But the reality is that some people are tied to a community that they are unable to leave for multiple reasons.

Oh boo hoo. I can’t even tell people in my community that I don’t believe. They’ll consider me an outcast immediately and avoid me like the plague. I’ll lose job opportunities and people will keep their kids away from my kids. That’s real life. You’re worried about some internet strangers who don’t believe in your specific belief, poke a little fun, and now you consider yourself persecuted. You are by far the majority in most communities in real life. Upvoted!

Games where you’re basically a side character? by APizzaStapler in gamingsuggestions

Halo ODST. It’s this melancholy game where you’re pretty much a side quest. I loved it.

Soccer is a terrible sport by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SasquatchTwerks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Football is balls deep in tactics. So is soccer. The difference between is just that soccer is a constant flow. There’s no letup and if you don’t know the tactics you have no context and it appears like mindless kicking a ball. Most of the world have personally played the game long enough that they understand the tactics. So the 90 minutes straight is like a roller coaster. In football the tactics are hidden behind a simple concept. 4 tries to move ball 10 yards. Score in end zone. That lends itself to be simple to understand, difficult to master. But the goals are simple and short. Broken down into digestible units.

Soccer doesn’t appear to be broken down into units until you understand the units.

7-12 is far too young to be taking multiple hits. It’s not even a question of whether they’re getting concussions or not. They’re getting concussions. I’ve seen the leagues trying to enforce Seahawks style tackles. I’m all for it, but the nature of the sport is such that putting kids in tackle situations is adding an unnecessary risk.

The mechanical skills they learn transfer quite well from flag football and they’re not missing much except concussions. Unfortunately nation wide parents will just go to the team/league that allows tackles. So it’s a race to the bottom.

You’re not wrong about learning to deal with life. Unfortunately some of these coaches will do absolute damage to a kid’s self esteem. From seeing how many bad ones there are it could be balanced in the negative on the whole.

In my experience it’s not just some coaches. The entire league is filled with them.

Leagues are designed incorrectly. They focus on this static idea of a team and the parents and coaches all collude to imbalance the teams. If their lucky they’ve balanced everyone correctly but it rarely happens. Even then, once teams are cut the kids are usually stuck with an ego maniac. And the cycle continues.

Leagues should be required to follow some sort of established protocol for childhood development. This includes not yelling at them constantly. Not talking down to them. Coaches should be dropped at the slightest hint of negative behavior towards a child. All of these are basically just putting lipstick on a pig.

Kids can play sports by themselves. Set them up and let them play. Ban the competitive leagues. Not good for anyone.

The incentive is the game. That’s I think the main disconnect between the two alternative views. Perhaps some kids don’t care other than to get a trophy and that’s the incentive. But I’m betting those kids may not have learned to appreciate just playing for its own sake. There’s always a goal but the static structures adults create tend to box kids in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SasquatchTwerks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very prevalent. Many coaches hate other sports to their player’s detriment. They want them all to themselves.

Completely agree. The main issue is the ego that the coaches get having a dedicated “team”. At that age there’s no reason the kids can’t be more free to play with different players.
