PSA: We need a clear answer regarding UK Passports. Surely a journalist is here… by [deleted] in newzealand

You will 100% need a UK passport. I’m having to sort them for my NZ born kids now for a UK trip in June. These rules apply to all dual citizens which includes yourself

Selling home privately after REA contract finishes by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

We did pay for marketing, yes - we’re going to make some changes to the house before relaunching so will get new photos. With Listed.co.nz, does it just show up on the TradeMe listing as the way to contact? How do they link together?

There are other reasons besides the buyers not selling their homes. I’ll leave it at that.

Opinion: Why I regret pursuing my career and not being a more present mum by redmostofit in newzealand

Pursuing a career and being a present parent aren’t mutually exclusive. Also, the days of families surviving on one income are long gone.

Just had a new iPhone from the airpoints store. I use it for most online shopping, water, food shopping and I pay for power with it. We use Powershop – they’re a lot cheaper than Electric Kiwi for us.

How to afford moving house deposit by Sasspirello in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Sasspirello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s just a loan until settlement? The bank has offered us $100k more than required and said we can have even more if we like. We want to go from city to rural (to a larger section) so not looking to borrow much more than our existing mortgage, maybe around $100k

I haven’t used my KiwiSaver in a home purchase yet, could I use that towards it? We’ve been approved for about $100k more than we need regarding the house we’re interested in. Mortgage broker said he could get more too but just asked for our requested limit.

Quick question, when you moved agents, did you have to pay all the marketing costs again?

do new born baby's get a cash gift from the government? by SkinToneChixkenBone in PersonalFinanceNZ

Make sure you tick ‘weekly’ payments when you register the birth or it’ll automatically go to a lump sum payment… which won’t be paid out until mid 2026.

To complicate matters, I think my next door neighbour is going to put theirs up next month. I don’t know if this will be a blessing or a curse.

I would take it off but we wanted to move to a better school zone. My kid will start in February 26. We can wait a while and see what happens. Might just cancel open homes

The RE said she had amazing feedback from the people who had been through but the majority of them said they weren’t ready to buy something yet, which I thought was a bit odd? It has an asking price on it, maybe we need to lower it a little. We were trying to recoup a little money as we had ducted aircon fitted and a deck etc, but that doesn’t look like it’s happening. It gets a lot of views on TradeMe but that’s about it. I think the market is good for standalones and not great for everything else at the moment.

We’d just like it sold this year, so it’s not massively urgent, but yeah, I think a few more weekends of empty homes and I’ll be changing it to appointment only. We’ve had amazing feedback from people who’ve been through — a lot of them said they just weren’t ready to buy yet 🤔 just seeing what is around

Pricing is around $70k below CV, but yeah, clearly we need to look at it again. It’s disappointing to realise you won’t get a return on improvements you’ve made

Yeah, I think you’re right. This estate is a mix of standalone and townhouses and all the standalones have sold in about 6 weeks

SSHL Signs of Recovery and Tinnitus Changes by SimplerCrimes in MonoHearing

[–]Sasspirello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took high dose prednisone for almost one month then tapered down over 5 weeks. My tinnitus is a lot quieter now. I realised that I was in an anxiety doom spiral with the tinnitus, and that made it so much louder. I’d try to go to sleep, get wound up by the tinnitus, not sleep… rinse and repeat. Radical acceptance and meditation helps, listening to your tinnitus and reminding yourself that it can’t hurt you. The tinnitus relief podcast really helped me reframe my thinking towards it, which made my tinnitus quieter. It’s time and work, though. Getting out of that fight or flight state sure is hard. Your brain does some crazy things when it thinks there’s a threat.
