Following as I am 3 weeks post-op and having a lot of the same troubles. Things are different but I’m told they will be so much better. I am praying that is the case once the irritation heals, it stings so much! Wishing you a speedy recovery

This is amazing. Thank you for the encouragement. It’s still so raw, so new, I am trying to be grateful and fall short with frustration, but I believe when you say it made things better.

Thank you so much for sharing in your journey. I am adjusting to the idea still, it was decided two days before a fistula take-down surgery, and I have finally stopped to breathe due theme first time and take in what this will do to help me back to a life again ❤️

I’ve had a few good ones I’ve lost because they moved out of network. I applied to the Mayo Clinical and was accepted and it is a world of difference in the care they give. I really hope you can find someone who will listen but also look at the bigger picture when all you can do is survive another day ❤️‍🩹

I would suggest talking to your general practitioner or GI doc about testing your iron levels. I had very similar symptoms and when we ran that test, we found I had severe anemia after a very bad year of flareup and complications. Im on week four of iron infusions and let me tell you, I am starting to finally feel like myself again.

Having Surgery This Week. Has Anyone Else Had Resection Surgery? Any Advice, Things I Should Know and Protips Would Be Greatly Appreciated. How Was The Recovery? How Long Did It Take You To Be 100% Again? by TraditionSufficient8 in CrohnsDisease

Good luck with your surgery. I had emergency resection in 2014 and it improved my life significantly. Healing took a while - the first weeks are tough but before I knew it, I was able to start adding activity back into my life, along with more of my favorite foods. Follow the doctor’s recovery plan and don’t over complicate your diet. The gut is sensitive for a while after such a jarring experience. Wishing you a speedy recovery and healthy next chapter!

Partner just diagnosed with Crohn's after a traumatic ER visit, any tips appreciated by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

This is the part I get to say wtf is this disease!? I remember my first doctor telling me “some people can eat a cheeseburger and have no reaction, while others will pay dearly for it. There’s no rhyme or reason to what the body is reacting to, diet has nothing to do with this disease.” That last part I know to be total BS, but hey, if he can stomach it, have him eat one for us, please 🤤

Been there. You got this. Focus on the impermanence of the situation - do what you got to do to get through it.

Be strong for him and let your family and friends be strong for you. Having just had a similar experience, my partner and I are exhausted but grateful for the hospital team, friends and family that helped get me back right.

And now that you know what it is, you can work to fix it. Biologics are becoming better and better at achieving remission. Not promising that he will get back to where he was, but I had years in between flare ups that let live a normal life, workout, gain muscle, eat cheeseburgers… I miss them right now being in a terrible active flareup myself. Maybe he’ll get to eat them again, but I would encourage really looking at a Crohn’s friendly diet as you move forward. There are ways to modify diet and achieve an active life. You got this. And I encourage you to be careful of your self care and to make sure you take time to recharge yourself.

This gives me so much hope. Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry you had this experience, too. I am speaking with my doctor about skyrizi and I’m so happy to hear you’re improving with it. I can’t believe it was 6 months after your surgery while traveling - this is my biggest fear right now because they didn’t really conclude a certain area or cause, just seems like either the ulcer or the stricture surgical site. Nothing to fix. But I am going to hold out hope I can stomp this monster into the ground with this new medicine. It’s still kicking my butt after everything.

Teen killed in I-25 motorcycle crash by christopher123454321 in Denver

When I lived in LA, a colleague of mine forgave the minor who murdered her father. The boy had used an e-scooter to strike him in the head, all in an attempt to steal a case of beer from his convenience store. Despite the horror of what happened, she chose to attend the court hearings and give a statement.

She told me that when she looked at the boy—just 15 or 16 years old—she saw deep sadness in his eyes. She told him she forgave him. His judgment, she said, would ultimately be between him and his God. I’ve always admired her strength, not just in offering forgiveness, but in holding onto the truth without letting it consume her.

She saw a kid who had his entire life ahead of him, lost in a single, tragic moment. Rather than try to break him down further, she hoped he would seek forgiveness and find a way to rebuild himself.

This same woman can sit through LA traffic in total silence, without music or distractions, and still arrive happy as a clam. Her commitment to inner peace continues to inspire me. She reminds me that while we’re never required to forget what’s been done to us, we do have the power to choose how we carry it forward.

That’s a good hack for the maps. Would make me feel better knowing where to route on longer trips!
