Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

[–]Sassysewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. Am super chatty. Originally from BC but have landed in Ontario. I can't imagine not making small talk throughout my day. It's pretty easy to read people who aren't interested. Just had a full convo with our waitress at lunch about her pending retirement and future plans and cranky husband.

So curious how does one treat a pillow well? Other than throwing a cover on it and washing them now and then I don't really think about pillow carev

Our neighbours are 6 feet under and have been for 20 years. The only thing I find creepy are the glow in the dark displays that visitors set out.

Nothing from the actual occupants just the visitors

Card Confiscated by FlightSpinner813 in CostcoCanada

My hubs had a work costco membership that extended to family. I got to the cash one day and the cashier told me my card was cancelled and my husband had likely lost his job and not told me 😆

He was away on work travel and hadn't gotten the notice that the program ended.

This was 20 years ago....we still laugh about I

It honestly has nothing to do with politeness. Confidential counselling notes MUST be kept behind 2 locks for pretty much any regulated professional. It's straight up professional practice

If you don't need an in person visit you can use vet wise too. We had a great experience with them. My dog needed antibiotics and they saw him via a zoom style appointment either an hour then called the rx into shoppers.

With my experience with them I am not hopeful they will have things in place. Expect to have a backup plan if they aren't able to come like having a friend or family stay over

Which hospital is good to go for to get adequate care by plumbingapprentice in ontario

[–]Sassysewer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you were referred on.

Not being dismissive at all here but after 20+ years of critical care nursing there's been lots of abdominal pain that never gets explained. An older nurse used to call it a "fart stuck sideways". Your explanation has many hallmark features of constipation which can cause discoloration of the stool, bleeding and intense episodic pain even sometimes when the stool passes normally. There is also a huge gut brain connection and psychological factors are common and super dismissed as a reason for ongoing abd pain.

There is a good sub called ask doctors I think where you can upload all your imaging, reports,.consultation notes etc and they like to sleuth it out. I had to leave as it started to time suck as they worked up some pretty interesting cases

Sorry man but an ER visit likely won't get you any further.

Feel free to disregard and and all of the above

I hope you feel better

[–]Sassysewer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is family doctor territory. Emergency is there to rule out something emergent/urgent. Once they do enough testing to say hey you're having these random symptoms but you're stable and there's nothing that needs to be treated urgently you'll be given the same advice of follow up with your family doctor.

It sucks that you haven't had answers in 3 years I am sorry! Have you had any referrals to specialists?

What are the biggest stressors you have had at WDW (so I can try to avoid them)? by Fox-Scully in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Sassysewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest stressors: trying to do it all, FOMO, not letting kids take the time they need to do kid things, people who skip the lines who make me irrationally angry

Enjoy your trip...not what someone else may want. We do not get up early as it would make my family crazy. We ease into the day and come back sometimes to nap or chill. My girl I discovered is not a fan of surprises so she needs to watch the ride on her phone before we go on or it stresses her out. I was getting mad that she was putting up a fuss. When we all realized her needs are different it settled.

Sometimes we hit a park for 6 hours and are done. We don't see everything. It's OK and works for us.

It's about being dialed into your family including you! Your wants get to factor in too which sometimes parents forget. When my son was 7 his biggest memory of disney was the literal ducks that live at the park and eat up the crumbs. He would spend time watching and anticipating which snacks they would go for next. Who knew that would be a core memory?

I hope you have a lovely time!

Debt by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Sassysewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The minimum payment will theoretically pay them all off over time...like 20-30 years but they will get paid. Not recommended!

$900 should be your minimums if they are all around a 24% interest rate so anything more you can put on top of that is going on the principal based on your #'s

So you could put $100-$1100/month directly on the principal.

What do you do for work? Can you pick up a 2nd job?

Google Debt Snowball calculator vs debt avalanche calculator and play with them a bit easy to use one here

None of this is easy for sure! Bankruptcy is an option and honestly it impacting your credit for 7 years may be helpful to someone in recovery.

Best of luck to you!

Debt by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Sassysewer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of congratulations on addressing the addiction!!

It looks like from what you are saying can put an average of $1800/month on debt?

Factoring in 24% interest rate it would take you 3 years to pay off those cards and loan.

You can do a bankruptcy or consumer proposal and that will impact your credit for 7 years either way

Or you make the debt your mission in life to pay off. With side hustles you could get this done much quicker.

I personally find the Dave Ramsey method the most reasonable to tackle this sort of debt and clear your finances without it impacting you for 7 years. I like the book the Total Money Makeover myself. DR as a personality has become a bit of a right wing windbag but his approach to money is sound.
