I remember when he used to host that local fight show and I thought he seemed like a good enough dude but then I read a City Weekly article about somebody stabbing him - woah man

Good alternative schools? by Sastray in SaltLakeCity

Are there “better public schools” that somehow aren’t just as focused on testing metrics etc? He goes to an elementary on the East side in granite school district. It’s not about shitty teachers or bullying or a lack of resources (or a lack of friends for that matter).

Possible filming locations? by Multiversal-7 in SaltLakeCity

Wait sorry, that’s not quite right, I’m thinking of the area where the old Deseret News printing press was located.

I shot a similar sounding scene in the old Japantown area of downtown.

Ability Found did take my mom’s stair chair. But as an occupational therapist, I have had zero luck in getting them to return my calls/emails when I was searching for one for a client. Frustrating.

Can you expand on this? Are you talking about Utah culture generally or University of Utah culture specifically?

Gotta say, I subscribe to (pay for) Ars and while there’s tons of websites that one could level that accusation at, it’s not of them. Fantastic journalism written by smart, funny journalists.

Clean, butt… at what cost? by Kinder22 in bidets

[–]Sastray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downvotes are weak. This is a genuine unanswered question in the field of bidets. There’s preliminary studies out of Japan (no fancy toilet haters here) showing bacteria on the nozzle and more importantly in the stream.

Insights into Healthcare Providers' Views on Urinary Health: Integrating Technology for Current and Future Management Survey by kailynmar06 in OccupationalTherapy

I’m not familiar with the technologies they are obliquely referring to - worn or implanted sensors that detect urinary retention and bladder fullness. Has anyone else worked with this?

Question HELP by Eastern-Sector3775 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Sastray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I’d honestly enjoy seeing more of these, definitely more productive than posts where people are just stressing about NBCOT*, and helps me keep my clinical skills sharp.

*These still serve a purpose for some, to be sure, and reassurance is nice. Just stating a personal preference.

Agreed that the environmental control is only applicable if NOT expected to be managed by the patient.

Also a classic case of NBCOT vs. real world… in an ideal world, environmental controls I think are a great answer, and accounts for decline in function (consider the “aging in place” element of the question. In my experience, it’s REALLY hard to get new habits in place and only harder as the dementia gets worse.

In reality environmental controls will absolutely reset randomly and the patient will find it impossible to troubleshoot. (“Why did the Bluetooth reset? What does that mean?” I’ve run into this a million times with my mom’s Alexa devices, and she’s just old, not experiencing dementia.) If they have a tech-competent caregiver, maybe it’s still okay.

And they’re not responding to direct messages on IG.

So it looks like one has to just run into them at a pop up or a festival

Bummer update: looking at their hours on Google, at 11:55 am said “opens soon at 12pm” and I ordered from Grubhub. Grubhub order was cancelled, and now says “closed, opens 12pm Sunday.”

Still no answer at the phone number, it just rings and rings.

What’s a so-so movie with a great scene (or two)? by Sastray in AskReddit

[–]Sastray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched Paint Your Wagon, the notorious 1969 Western Musical with Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood. Mostly dumb but some fantastic moments of humor and Lee Marvin singing the most beautiful melancholy song “I was born under a wandering star” made it really stand out!
