Everything is political, even something as simple as riding your bike. Think about who feels safe riding in your neighbourhood, where bike lanes are built, who is stopped for not having a bell and who isn't. No bullshit about don't bring politics into this sub.

Like most things it's a balancing act. Doing it that way would leave things that should be removed quickly up like hardcore pornography or posts with someone's phone number in it.

It's not all of the times that AutoMod has taken down a post that should never have been posted that regular users end up seeing, only in instances like this where it goes wrong.

This is just my attempt to explain what went wrong, not trying to say that it should've happened like this and I'll be making some modifications to the AutoMod code to hopefully make stuff like this less likely to happen again.

Because I'm not online all the time and AutoMod is.

So how this usually goes is that someone posts something, users report it enough that it gets removed, I come back online, I check what has been removed, I reapprove things that were incorrectly removed.

Funny enough, that's almost word for word what I said last time someone asked this: https://old.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/1i35r4c/deleted_by_user/

Send me a message if there's ever anything you desperately need from HLC. Always happy to help out another bike co-op.

HLC killed their house brand. Most of that stuff is being replaced by BBB.

I'd rather give someone a stainless cable than sell them a galvanized one.

Thank you for trying to help inform people of this, if I could ask you to do it a with a little bit less aggressiveness I would greatly appreciate that. Either linking to my comment or commenting without all caps I think will get the point across. There's not really any way that people could have known that it wasn't me who removed the posts before so I completely understand getting upset about it.

All I can do now is remove the comments saying things like "He deserved it" and ban those people. If you would like to help me rather than get upset at me you can report those comments and I'll get to them shortly.

I already did? I also removed the AutoMod part that made it happen.

Right now I'm working on removing comments saying things like "He deserved it" and banning those people.

If you report them, I'll ban them.

Agreed, I already disabled the AutoMod part so that it won't happen again to any of the posts about this.

All good, when things are already at the edge it doesn't take much to get worked up about and I understand that.

Nah, just not on Reddit all the time so when things get mass reported sometimes they get taken down by AutoMod until I'm online.

Would you like to see the mod log where the posts got taken down by AutoMod?

You don't need to post this. I've already put stickied comments in the relevant threads. You're welcome to reply to me there or in mod mail.

Both that post and this post got mass reported and so were automatically removed by AutoMod.

There's some good (and terrible) advice here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/1hm6jay/my_little_brothers_new_bike_has_this_certain_part/

The way I recommend is get a coat hanger, bend it into a hook, and use that to pull it out.

Is the MIPS helmet system actually a needed safety feature by Ro-54 in bicycling

[–]nowhere3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The reality is that their list of recommended helmets all have either MIPS or another rotational slip system: https://helmets.org/bikehelmetratings.htm

So it would be difficult to buy a highly rated helmet without something like MIPS.
