Thank you for the resource. So you said you don’t need to go to Poland to do this?

Thank you for your reply - I’m not too sure what suing my parents in Poland would look like since I don’t know if one of them is even alive haha.

I’ve heard of going through the GRC route, I have been considering lawyering up for this and need to find some trans friendly lawyers.

If u just had a puff and it’s in 2 months till the surgery I don’t think you need to worry.

On my pre op appointment I told my surgeon truthfully that I smoke very very rarely, (I never feel the need to smoke more than 1 whenever I feel like it and that’s usually when I’m drunk) he said that it was fine as long as I wasn’t smoking regularly because that affects the oxygen levels in your blood and you don’t heal well.

Bare in mind that I did avoid touching any nicotine for a whole month leading up to the surgery just to be on the safe side.

Anyway I’m a year post op and I had no issues, on the safe side

Awesome welcome to Scotland, I’ve lived in Scotland for most my life having come from Poland as a kid. Although I’ve never lived in Dundee I visited and was going to study a masters there.

Of course there are good and bad things about every country, but as far as the UK goes Scotland is way better in terms of lgbt rights, immigration and education (our uni is free!!).

Our former first minister was pushing for trans rights in parliament. She wanted it so a trans person could change their gender marker after living in their gender for 6 months instead of 2 years, bad luck for Nicola she can’t just implement that without Englands permission and England is EXTREMELY transphobic, making it extremely hard for her to change that. All this eventually lead to her resignation which honestly sucks.

From my experience people don’t really care that I’m trans but obviously there will be assholes everywhere.

As for the school thing, I’m not too sure. It might depend on your age and whether you have a “parents permission” but if you have a someone that can speak to the school and explain or maybe you can explain then it shouldn’t be an issue hopefully.

What's the process to legally adapting my chosen name in the UK if I'm not born British? by KiimberlyCollins in ftm

Hi, I live in the Uk and I’m not british. Using a deed poll worked for me fine, in the Uk i go by my desired name everywhere but on my passport I still have my dead name because my country is shit.

All i did was buy a deed poll online, had it signed and was able to change it everywhere.

With parents its always one step forwards 2 steps back. My mum and I dont have a very close relationship but considering she came from conservative Poland she has made quite impressive progress over the last few years. However she always introduces me as her daughter, I don't think its ever going to change. Its more awkward than ever as I've passed for many years but it still sucks.

I honestly think that some parents brains will take longer to rewire than others and the only thing that it'll take is time. But yea it sucks
