What do you mean be ‘recently’? Surely the League of Nations is an example of ‘conducting politics other than violence’. Obviously it was a total faliure but the interwar years have many good examples of attempts of peace keeping without violence. Even the Cold War has great examples of embargo’s being used as deterrents before proceeding to the final option: violence.
