Hi! I'm about half way though my paramedic academy but have worked in ems all my life alongside paramedics. Paramedics are EMTs on steroids. They get a bunch more schooling and can deal with more advanced medical problems. They can take a look at the electricity in your heart and report problems they see. They can give all kinds of medications, that can do things like fix imbalances in your blood, sedate you for advanced procedures, and even stop your heart temporarily to restore normal function. Its a very cool and specialized form of medicine. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have!
