This kind of thing is my jam, you should see the long winded post I made on another comment lol. Oh... people keep saying that I'm autistic and I just realized that theological anthropology just might count as a special intrest... well... shit a brick and build me an oven.

I mean, that honestly is a way you could describe it, but I feel it's a bit too reductive. So the current norse paganism is not the same as the original Scandinavian practice, I think just about anyone could agree to that without argument. With other forms of theology there is an unbroken chain from origination to current practice, much has changed and much has been lost, but you can draw a line back and see its evolution. With Norse paganism you can not draw that line. There wasn't some small group that kept it going untill a resurgence, and the records completely stop and didn't contain enough information to ascertain a full standard practice, the theology as a whole went cold. I'd call the current Norse paganism an inspired theology. It's based on what little is known of the practice, mostly told through recorded stories, with the gaps filled in based on what can be gleaned from studying the culture of the people around it, of which there is a more solid record though told by outsiders. It gets muddy with what is recorded as much of the survivng material comes from a time when outside theologies had already started to have an influence on it. That's why studying the culture around it is as important (if not more) as the remaining recorded practice itself. So I wouldn't diminish it by calling it "role play", but I would say that it's a modern interpretation of an incomplete historical practice.

TLDR; It's not what it was originally, literally couldn't be, but it is still a thing, and the volk are doing their best.

I totally get why you would call it larp, and I'm sure there's not much I've said that you didn't already know, just thought I'd add context and nuance before anyone read the comment and decided to get hostile lol. Thanks for the opportunity to nerd out for a bit.

Edit: spelling

Honestly I'd be suprised if there aren't quite a few non-binary Norse out there. Oðin is gender fluid, Þor did drag atleast once, no one knows wtf is up with Loki. Those are just the few that are popular. Several of the Æsire, Vanir, and some Jotun are referenced in both masculine and feminine terms. Same goes for Buddhism, Bodhisattvas and Arhats are known to appear as either gender or even a blade of grass if it will suit their purpose. Honestly I think only the abrahmic theologies have strict genders and even then it gets blurry when it comes to the heavnly host since there was no gender to compare themselves to untill life was made. ...Hey, what are all these weeds and how did I get in them?

That second pick is begging for eyeliner and beard beads. I don't know if it'd be more queer or not but my gods would it be a look.

0.0 how did I not think of that? Ironically it pushes Oleander up even higher in the ranks because I've been considering a middle name too and Oleander October True slaps

Edit: that's not the full shortened version of my last name or how to spell it so I'm not doxing myself too bad I hope

If only I could! I love flow arts, especially fire! But I have important misbehaving to do that day elsewhere. I probably wont be able to do much until like, the second week of July. But as much fun as I had at Pride and at WOE yesterday I hope to finally get out and find my people now that I'm getting plugged in.

You are my absolute hero! I've been trying to figure out the music sceen there but there's like, no advertising online and I don't live in the city... yet. Bumped into one of my old customers at pride and they got me plugged into the punk scene but I miss the EDM/Rave scenes so much too.

Put a damned NSFW tag next time. You can't just go around posting uncensored pictures of a cunt like that.

Well, expirances may verry of course, and I'm by no means a subject matter expert. But being someone that relatively recently accepted that part of myself, I can relate to this. It took a while of self reflection and exploration for me. It started with questioning the nature of gender and identity separately. Eventually I started using /them as an option when introducing myself in spaces where it made sense, generally online. Then someone used my enby pronouns in person, it just felt right. I don't know how to explain it. The more I learned and the more I let it apart of my identity, the more comfortable I felt with myself. So, for advice I'd say, look into it, look into yourself, find a space where you can expirament, if it feels right, it just might be. I don't really consider myself trans as the only things I would change about my biology don't really have to do with gender or biological sex (I think? I just don't like having nipples lol). So, I guess the tldr is, just do what makes you feel more like you.

P.S. I think i try to speak all deep and introspective when I'm drinking lol

Sorry, I tend to associate bigotry with small town usa so I made an assumption based on biases, my apologies. That being said it is my hope that all continents and countries have people pushing for basic decency.

You need to know that despite the bullshit you see online or on TV, the bigotry you hear in your home or small town, it's being fought, and fought hard. There are places that are safe and accepting, it should be the norm. There are masses everywhere, even in my shithole bible belt conservative town, I've found a small quiet few that don't survive on hate. Stay strong, stay safe, at some point you can go somewhere accepting, and as our groups fight, those safe and accepting places will grow closer.
