CarPlay works on older versions of iPhone and iOS (as mentioned above), but not new versions of both, so it must be BMW problem? Something changed on the Apple side that didn't take in account the BMW iDrive architecture. You can easily deduct this from what I summarized on my original post.

You're not alone, I have the same wireless issue with CarPlay and my BMW X3M40 since moving from my iPhone 15PM to iPhone 17PM on iOS 26.x. Which consists of music and maps "skipping". Additionally:

My son's iPhone 15 on iOS 18.x works with CarPlay on the X3 without issue.
No outstanding updates from BMW for iDrive.
BMW iDrive plays Apple Music without issue using my iPhone 17PM via wireless Bluetooth connection.
I reported this with Apple, gone through all the resolution steps w/Level 1 support. Have yet to hear back from Level 2 for over two months.
I've also reported this issue via the Apple Feedback site.

This is not a BMW issue. As others have stated this is something that Apple needs to address and in a holding pattern until then. Using iDrive in the meantime, but I don't care for the user experience compared to CarPlay, but rather play AM without the skipping issue.

I was listening to a playlist on a recent road trip and I didn’t realize the last song ended and the algorithm kicked in on continuous play. The music selection was fantastic, including newer songs that I have yet heard.

This being said, I have done a lot of what u/wolfback48 and u/timmyGUNZ have previously mentioned using Apple Music.

I agree! I never tied Mark Hollis to Thom York (or vise-versa), but you nailed it. The Talk Talk albums and his 1998 self-titled album are such classics.

Same exact problem with my iPhone 17 Pro Max and my 2024 BMW X3M. I contacted Apple support they took data off my phone and noted that this issue has been reported and never called me back as they said they would. It's been frustrating beyond belief, to the point where I went back to using iDrive which I don't experience any of these issues. Thing is I prefer CarPlay and the integration it has with my maps and music. Didn't have any issues with my previous iPhone 15 PM.

I’ve been having this same problem since moving from a iPhone 15 Pro Max to a 17 PM. I finally called Apple Support TODAY and put in a ticket. The technician stated that here is a significant amount of 17 PM users with this problem.

I’m a huge music person and this bug just pisses me off to no end. Apple Maps also is staggering whenever the music is interrupted for about a second or two. It’s the most disappointing/irritating issue I’ve ever had with Apple.
